Blade Forums Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife 2021)

Think I ruined the resale/flipper value on this one. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️

Looks better now, honestly! Well done, broseph!

Mine came in late yesterday, so I waited for better light to take some pics. It’s an absolutely gorgeous knife!

I do have a question for those who may have the expertise. There is a natural void in the bone at the end of the knife. It runs in about an eighth of an inch if you insert a pin in the hole that is shown below.

What is the best material and method to fill the void? CA glue? Epoxy? Leaving it “as is” would not be wise seeing that this will be a user for me and it would surely be a moisture trap.

Thanks!

JonMcD JonMcD I would just use a little clear super glue, I’ve used it before in cracks and voids with no issues. Don’t use any clamps or anything like that because the glue will expand as it dries. If it mushrooms out of the top you can just use a high grit sand paper to smooth it over and buff it.

How does the thickness of the BF Barlow compare to that of the bone 2AB barlow? They look thicker in pics to me but I don’t have my BF knife to compare yet.
They're basically the same, save for the spin pins. I can provide a shot later. The important but is that they're all standard knife thickness, i.e. same as, say a 77, and not thick liked the first BF 86s.
What a beauty!

I would go the CA/quick drying glue route. Whatever is high flow (low thickness). It doesn't look like there's any structural defect there, so my concern would be getting it filled properly. I would poke the pin in there a few times, too, to make sure the glue actually goes in that hole, it's so tiny.
