I don’t know if a custom would match the fit and finish on this thing, GEC knocked it out of the park. I voted copperhead but I think the porch made the right decision on the covers after seeing how they turned out. Color and how visible the sawmarks are changes a lot depending on light and angle you look at it from.
Makes it worth even more on the secondary then! Super rare BF21 Barlow with wrong Sawcut pattern!!Who's going to be the first to return their forum knife because the saw cuts are running in the wrong direction?![]()
I thought about it , then I just turned it to the Pile Side up .Who's going to be the first to return their forum knife because the saw cuts are running in the wrong direction?![]()

Yes!! The knife looks way different depending on the light. As seen here, half saw cuts, half smooth, split light.I don’t know if a custom would match the fit and finish on this thing, GEC knocked it out of the park. I may send them a pic just to be sure, but I certainly don’t mind filling the hole with a bit of CA myself. Good thought. Is it worth asking GEC about in case the void goes further than you can apply the ca?
Honesty I’ve never even handled a custom slip joint, I just haven’t found a flaw at all on my example, I don’t know how a custom would improve upon it was what I meant by that.Do you have much experience with customs? No need for hyperbole, it just creates unrealistic expectations. The Spring Street Barlow is an outstanding knife, the best available really in a production offering, but it is not on the same level as knives from the fine custom makers.
You can get that Zap-a-Gap I mentioned in a few different types. I’d go with the thick one that you can build up. Just go slow and don’t glom it all on at once. It’ll work fine.
That's funny... because I thought of the same thing.I thought about it , then I just turned it to the Pile Side up .
Exactly!
when should I start get worried. I’ve ignored this thread for the last two weeks because I didn’t want worry about my knife. The shipping label was created on September 27 and that is the only history posted. Is anyone else in the same boat.
