Blade Forums Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife 2021)

Might as well put up a new picture.

That’s a beauty! I’d throw that in your pocket for a while. :) I know you said you may forward it to a member who missed out, but in my opinion, you may as well enjoy it. I’m sure a member who missed out wouldn’t mind it a little later on…even if previously loved. 😉

Your pins don't look proud at all, they look nicely finished. ;) :D

Todd, you have a lot of color in yours. Very nice!

And the best covers award goes to….@bigfish64

Tremendous bone! Best keep dogs away from it, certain they'd love to have a chew- I'm tempted too....

I'm holding my forum knife as we speak, but sitting here full of envy. These covers are incredible!! The smooth reddish brown running all along the edges, wow, chef's kiss!

Daaaaaamn! Love that. Very nice slip too.👏
Thanks guys. Now, I’m going to get that patina started. 😊👍

I have been astonished and angry over the continued squabbles over this. ESPECIALLY the underhanded hints at Barry being some kind of cheat, out of respect to THIS post I'll refrain from further ranting
Look Folks. I'm sorry that the Forum Knife effort got fouled up this year. I am. Sorry enough that I doubt we will have another.
But nobody is out any money.
So please, at this point, please just post about the nice knives
I'm about to say something very very unpopular- I hope there is NOT a forum knife next year. Seems to me it was started to be about everything great about this forum, instead it has devolved into the absolute worse. The saddest part is that the ones who seemed to have been the most active in dragging us into the sewer aren't very active here any other time.

Misplaced Hillbilly Misplaced Hillbilly I was going to like your post and then I saw you saying you hope there isn’t a forum knife next year. I hope that is just rhetorical flourish and not how you really feel.

That is such a horrible thing to write, the forum knife is such a great project for our community and a very enjoyable process to see unfold and to participate in each year.

This forum will lose something very special if the annual forum knife project dies, and how ironic that the petty complaints and frustrations of members here will be the cause of death- not the flippers and Facebook jerks.

There are lots of ways that the forum knife project (from securing a manufacturer commitment all the way through the order process) could be improved, but improvement is about making things better not attacking people for perceived missteps. How many of you will volunteer to help make things better?

I am just blown away by all this and so disappointed in the attacks on Barry and the mods.....

E Elgatodeacero Honestly if it continues to cause such things as the attacks on Barry and the mods, the disrespect to Charlie, Barry and Meako, then yes I'd rather see it done away with. This is an absolutely amazing place, full of amazing people, especially here on the Porch. If a silly knife no matter how nice and coveted by our members becomes a thorn in our heel and causes decisiveness and becomes something those involved in ACTUALLY making it happen dread dealing with, pluck out the thorn and continue without it.

Clearly, with the impact that GEC has on the market, if there is to be any more Traditional Forum knives, I don't see how they could be from GEC. All the problems we had were due to people scamming for a cheap GEC. We can have all the benefits of a member designed forum knife without any of the negative aspects if we choose one from some other manufacturer. Sad to say, but that's the way I see it.

Maybe we should just let some time pass before making any decisions or hardening our minds.

At times I have felt the way you do right now David Misplaced Hillbilly Misplaced Hillbilly , but in retrospect mellowed my position. The Forum Knife has been a tradition for over a decade. It would be a shame to have it ended as a result of the poor conduct of a handful of people. The bad guys would take great pride in their handiwork. The rest of us would be the true losers, not them. Lots of cliches come to mind such as “don’t throw out the baby with the bath water,” and “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”

Perhaps no one will come forward to spearhead the effort next year, and that will be it. However, every time the end seems imminent, something special occurs. Maybe we can just let the bad feelings pass and see what happens over the next few months. We might be pleasantly surprised. It is not within our control anyway, so there is no need to be stressed and debating it is just a waste of time. But, we do need to stop the angst and bickering. I have believed for a long time that forgiveness and turning the other cheek is not about the person being forgiven, it is about bringing peace to the person who has been wronged.

For the time being, let’s please just discuss the knife itself, nothing else. Otherwise, we will just keep damaging ourselves. Frank knarfeng knarfeng and Gary P peregine know what occurred here. They will not forget, and they will not let it happen again. I am certain of that.

I hear you…

However, I see it a little differently. Yes GEC’s are wanted right now, and cause some upheaval this year. But GEC does make a wonderful knife. USA made and wonderful to boot.

It’s sucks a great deal that some members missed out, however there is so many other members who have offered to give their knife to another who missed out! This is the porch spirit!

To have a few unentitled folks slip in and snag a one is a small drop in the bucket for how many deserving members got one. This whole BF21 knife can either divide or bring the porch together. Only we can decide.

I wouldn’t do away with GEC making the BF knife again, their knives are a great representation of what the Porch is.

Just my opinion. 😁

Love the color of yours, Leslie Tomville Leslie Tomville

OK GUYS! Complain about this: I just talked my very nice USPS carrier into taking ALL OF THE REST OF THE KNIVES to the USPS local where he will scan them in TODAY! All 166 of them. Sorry if some ineligible buyers were able to sneak in, but in truth I can't screen every single buyer and I don't know you all nor am I familiar with your screen name. I maintain that it was not part of my job to vet anybody, as my understanding is that it would be done by the mods. Anyway, some confusion I admit, so sorry about that. I have yet to see any come up on the secondary market even though I already sent out some 260 knives, so that is a good sign at least.

So whatever, I am worn out from this exercise over the last three weeks so I am officially DONE. Thanks to you all that have been civil, and to the others, not so much.
Thank you for your efforts on our behalf.

I am looking forward to posting my own thoughts here on the knife when I receive it.

Wednesday cannot come soon enough.
Barry, I personally appreciate everything you've done for this and past year's traditional forum knives.
Thank you for your patience, perseverance and the generosity of your time to make sure each of these you've been associated with have been a success.

Looking at my first one while waiting for mine to arrive and remembering how great it felt to be a part of the annual Bladeforums knife.
I can't express how grateful I am to waynorth waynorth gunstockjack gunstockjack knarfeng knarfeng Peregrin Peregrin meako meako and Spark Spark ! I know this was a ton of work and I am sure it made a lot of people happy now and in the past.
