Blade Forums Spring Street Barlow (BF Knife 2021)

Eric,
You're not alone - yes, i read both your posts - my knife left Seattle twice on Sunday, was progressing Monday, left Seattle again yesterday, and is still progressing today.
I even got an email from USPS this morning telling me it's supposed to arrive today!
I expect tomorrow it'll leave Seattle again tomorrow and with a little luck be here Saturday.

Hope your week is going well.
Erik
Its not unusual for my packages to arrive in, and depart from, KC multiple times before getting pointed in the right direction.

Same. Mine actually arrived in KCK, departed KCK, and arrived again at KCK just yesterday. Then departed KCK again last night. When they do it, they do it big in KC. 🥵😅

Yeah. Mine frequently land in kck, transfer to kc, mo - then back to kck before heading to olathe or Topeka.

Mine is not really all that red, so I guess I got one of the green ones. 🤢👽👾😉

Pull is about a 7-8 which I like. Very nice knife overall, and I am grateful to have one!

The first thing I did with this knife as its new parent is open a package.

I have been, as waynorth waynorth Charlie would say, coon-fingering my Bladeforums Traditional knives and enjoying the unique qualities of each, remembering the thought processes that went into each knife. Good memories for the most part.

The one pictured here with the 2021 knife brings back a sad memory, I believe that the forum knife that year was the last run of knives that Canal Street made before closing their doors. Sad day, but a great knife indeed!

This was recommended earlier to ED and it intrigued me.
It's my new plan, I am going to carry my Forum Knife every day.
I'm going to put a thick layer of natural patina on the blade, spots and all.
I'm going to let it get scratched and marred up from keys and coins and work.
When it's looking well-used, and I've grown attached to it, I'll give it away to somebody.
That will mean more than giving somebody a brand new knife with inflated value, it will have sentimental value.
Who knows, maybe I'll do a pass-around before I gift it... That would be fun.
That's what the Forum Knife should be about!!!

Here it is on Day #1... You can watch the Totin' thread to see the progress.

Are you certain that's a gin-yoo-whine Spring Street Barlow? Those bolsters look funny, they have a yellow gleam to 'em. Better send it back to the factory for some warranty work.

🤪

Ok, ok, ok !!! Since I had a leg bone removed from my lower leg to make a new jaw bone a year and a half ago, the wife won't let me get on a ladder - probably a wise move so, going up and down a ladder to put the 2021 BF knife on the galvanized tin roof of our wood shed is out but creative thinking has concluded in a brilliant idea on my part. The galvanized tin lid of our galvanized trash can - once again, BRILLIANT !!!!

More to follow. I think. Maybe. We'll see. Why not? Pretty nice knife though.

I had a funny thought, you could scratch EARL into a cover...

Well dang… here I am proud of myself for coming up with a fun idea, and it turns out I’m not the only one thinking along the same lines! 😲😲😁

I’ve been talking with WValtakis WValtakis since Monday about a special project involving my 2021 BF #86 (in fact, the knife is packaged up and ready to head his way tomorrow). I was going to wait until I got it back from Chip to say anything, but now I feel like maybe I oughta spill the beans sooner rather than later.

I’ll post a thread up soon, but for now I’ll just leave this here.

Stay tuned… 😉
