Forget the knife! You have some God of Fire Don Carlos circa 2010????I received my Forum knife today! Thanks to all who made it happen. I'll post some pictures after dinner...
...okay, I couldn't wait!
Wow that’s a long one!Mail call! Finally
Enough drooling over others (sorry for the slobber marks on your knives, ladies and gentlemen), I finally got to handle mine.
First impressions from a user who did not get in on any 86’s:
The size. Bigger than expected/anticipated, but carries very well. Fits well in hand. It’s a “big little knife” in my opinion. I absolutely love it. It’s small enough to fit in pocket, and/or carry with a companion blade. But, also big enough to be a standalone knife and the only one carried that day. I love the versatility.
The blade shape. Perfect. I love clips, and they did a very nice job with this one. I don’t have a “favorite” clip style, so this one is really very attractive to me as well as being useful/practical for my needs.
Color and scale material. I didn’t think I’d care for the color. I didn’t think I’d care for the slab material. But, I have to honestly say I’m really loving them both. I believe mine is slightly lighter on one side than it is the other, but to me that doesn’t matter. It’s so minute and trivial, it could never take away from the whole package in my eyes. I’m digging it. The sawcut is shallow, but still visible. I’ve seen deeper, I’ve seen smoother (on this run). I think this one fits right in the middle, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
Fit and finish. What can I say. I’ve had GEC’s that went right back. I have lockback GEC’s I’ve had to send in (there is not an “acceptable” amount of blade play on any knife in my opinion, regardless of brand). This one is dead on. Spot on. And locked in. No gaps, liners and scales mated perfectly, grinds even and gorgeous, flush in all three positions. Overall a very very nice knife.
And finally, certainly not least of all, a HUGE thank you to those that made it happen. You worked your tails off, dealt with hassles, issues, and complaints, and still managed to make it happen. There is no black eye on this years knife to me. I think it was executed perfectly, and distributed the same. Five hundred random folks, in five hundred different places is no easy task. I know what it’s like with all the proper equipment, accounts, and helping hands. I can’t imagine what these folks went through to get us our knives this year. THANK YOU! You are loved, respected, and highly regarded.
Pics or it didn’t happen:
ETA: not sure why the first pic looks lighter. No filters, sunlight in the same spot. The subsequent pictures are most accurate regarding color. But, I like that the sunlight let the color “pop” a little in the first pic, so we can see it better.

Hmmm.. Even then I think you might be taking a risk.If you’re already married and locked in I don’t see why not.![]()
I Love it. Mine hasn’t left my pocket…even at football practice. I know, I know. I lost my 2017 TC Barlow wearing gym shorts. But I plan on carrying this bad boy everyday for a while. Plus it pairs well with ANY knife makes it easy. This was recommended earlier to ED and it intrigued me.
It's my new plan, I am going to carry my Forum Knife every day.
I'm going to put a thick layer of natural patina on the blade, spots and all.
I'm going to let it get scratched and marred up from keys and coins and work.
When it's looking well-used, and I've grown attached to it, I'll give it away to somebody.
That will mean more than giving somebody a brand new knife with inflated value, it will have sentimental value.
Who knows, maybe I'll do a pass-around before I gift it... That would be fun.
That's what the Forum Knife should be about!!!
Here it is on Day #1... You can watch the Totin' thread to see the progress.

If you had offended me, you would know it by now. Actually I laughed at your comment - once I figured out what it said. Lol.E40
Hi Mate...I apologise if you took offense...that was not meant at all...Poes Law and all that. May I make so bold as to suggest you post more....up to you of course but it might seem less like Mount Negatuvius is blowing its stack....
Well, until I finally decide what I'm going to do with this knife, I've given it my "punch" of approval, which at least, makes it a "never flipper" knife.

Actually, the punch mark below the Blade Forums tang stamp doesn't look all that bad but it'll never be able to marketed as new/mint/unused.
Good....glad I was able to bring you laughter...er but only if it was happt laughter and not that scary "I'll get even with Him one day.." type of laughter..If you had offended me, you would know it by now. Actually I laughed at your comment - once I figured out what it said. Lol.
I am what I am. Thirty four years of dealing with the worst that the human race has to offer (including co-worker's) doesn't make me so much Chief Negative as Ultimate Hater. But I don't spread it, I manage it. Part of managing is keeping my mouth shut and just watching the world go by, regardless of what I think.
There are excellent people here on The Porch, many I hold in high regard. In fact, I have found the best people on several forums I frequent, not so much in person, FB or other social media.
What’s amazing is that no one was seriously injured! Especially when the impact flipped the lead carriage. Hope they catch the fool who left a vehicle on the track’s.Good....glad I was able to bring you laughter...er but only if it was happt laughter and not that scary "I'll get even with Him one day.." type of laughter..
And speaking of derailment...whooo...see the one yesterday at Kembla Grange ...not far from my old home..?
WOW, you have scored a really nice one there, Rover is obviously not in as much awe of it as i am.![]()
Now that there are a bunch of them "in hand," does anyone REALLY like or dislike the slight recurve? In use, and/or in sharpening?
