$150? Thanks going to be some cheap scrubby looking mammoth..lol And you had BETTER be looking for stag, ironwood and especially ivory on Thursday during set up time or Don Hanson will have bought everything in the freakin' room by the time you get around to shopping.:D

Joe, I ain't goin to buy any handle material this year
Well then buy some for me:D Or at least direct me to your sources on Thursday. I have a sneaking suspicion that reason you don't need to buy anymore is that you have a huge underground warehouse full of ivory on your property that looks like the one at the end of Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

Hi,
I'd like to ask a question if you don't mind.
My knives are 'handmade' but not "custom"
Right now I am making them all myself, but in the recent past I have had a couple of employees and I can see in the future also having 2-3 people that would help me make them.

My Amherst Cutlery knives do not pretend to be anything but what they are. They are not custom, not production. They are hugely labor intensive. They are priced mostly in the $200-$500 range with handle materials like mammoth ivory, elephant ivory, fossil walrus, great sambar stag, black pearl and antique tortoise shell. I do mostly slipjoints and do have a lockback or two and some odds and ends small fixed blades. For those of you who don't know AC, that's the general overview.

I'm busting my tail to get ready for the Blade Show too. Can I post pics of my Blade Show stuff here? Some one let me know if it's ok. I don't want to make a mistake or create any problems.

Thanks and please let me know.

Keep Care,

Tim

I would say HECK YEA,

Not sure of anyone else but I'm hoping to pick up a slipjoint at Blade this year and I've been eyeballing your stuff for a while.

Tim, as the originator of this thread, I have no problem with your sharing and describing pieces you are bringing to BLADE. As you say your knives fall into a gray area (not custom nor production). However, makers do not include prices. Moderators, if I have stepped over the line please intervene.

AC Peanut. My new twist on a traditional favorite
Blades: 154CM
Bolsters/liners: 416 Stainless
Main Blade: 2-1/4" (I call this my Jacob's blade or Mini-Bowie Blade)
Secondary Blade: 1-5/8 inches
Overall Length, Open: 4-7/8 inches
Handle material: Siberian Woolly Mammoth Ivory
Blades Hand-rubbed to 800 grit
Bolsters Hand rubbed to 600 grit
Hidden lanyard pin (called a Pappy-Pin) for any type lanyard

This knife is affectionately known as my "Square-butt Peanut" (LOL)
The bend in the handle gives great control in your hand and the combination Jacob's Mini-Bowie and wharncliffe blade make for alot of cutting power in this light little knife. I get lots of teasing over this knife.................until somebody puts it in his/her hand. Then the story changes!

Hope to see you at the Blade Show
Table 9-A
Thank you.

Tim, good looking little folder, and I mean little. Beautiful ivory as always.
A fine piece for the pocket.

Stephan, if by some chance your first Blade Show isn't a success it won't be for lack of fine knives. ;)
Really like the wrought iron fittings and frame on the last one.

This will be the last one for a while, I work in Batches and had most of those already polished and waiting for handles.

Stephen,
I love that guard.
I'm not a big fixed blade guy, but yours makes me drool..........

Here's another knife for the show. This is my first subhilt, and it was challenging but fun to build. In order to get everything to flow like this, the knife has to be worked as a unit at times and then partially disassembled and worked in sections at other times. Kinda fun once you get in the groove.

Blade is 416 stainless over 52100 laminate, double ground and very sharp everywhere but the ricasso. The fittings are firestorm damascus with polished stainless spacers and a desert ironwood handle with a carved butt. The sheath is tooled with a chevron style basketweave pattern. The blade is 7.25" and the knfie is 12.25" overall.

Just frikkin' fantastic....IF you are going to deviate from Loveless style subhilt, this is a great way to do it!

Best Regards,
