Tad, really liking your work! Look forward to meeting you at the big show.

Don, awesome folders! Really like that meaty blade on #2. A lot of coolness going on with that folder.

The damascus blade on #1 ain't too shabby. :p :)

Truly amazing, Rodrigo. We should get it photographed and maybe,
if I get the chance, I'll take it home with me and then display it in
my next general-custom-knife-volume in 2013....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Sure are some great knives going to Blade!

I had shown some in progress pics a week or two back. Here's one that is almost ready to assemble. The blade is W2, with silicon bronze guard and Monticello (as in T. Jefferson) poplar handle. This is my first attempt at producing a hamon. It's not at the Don Hanson level yet, but I'm satisfied. Maybe the next one. I have to finish it up this weekend and get it off to Paul Long.

David

Don,

Your work just continues to amaze. Especially love the damascus in the folder. I hope they all find a new home while you're at the show but would love to see them first hand in Branson.

Stag Bowie w/damascus frame and blade spine (that's pretty unique):

Jerry describes his 4th pieces for Blade:
This is a "Dowie" for lack of a better term. That would be a combination Dirk and Bowie knife. It has the best of both designs.
This is piece is marked NLT #4 for 2010. . The blade is a "Tears of the Wounded" damascus pattern set into a "W" pattern. The 9 1/4 inch blade also has a chisel ground clip on the spine, it is set up for a right handed person. The handle is some Antique elephant ivory I bought in an estate sale. The handle design is a damascus "frame" handled that is tapered, this piece also has a damascus guard. There is a touch of gold inlay on the guard, the pins and the escutcheon plate. Both the spine of the knife and the frame have two inlayed gold leaves butted up next to the guard area. This piece weighs 8 ounces with the balance being right at the front of the guard. This is one that you can write home about.

Very cool, sir! I am going to have to ply you with alcohol and get you to tell me how you etch your name in gold, because that may be about the only foolproof way of doing it on a damascus blade if you expect people to know who actually made the knife.;)

I really like Jerry's "Dowie".

It has an interesting grind and is a beautifule knife. It will be nice to see it in person in a few weeks at Blade.

I'm bringing this one piece, which had been held in obscurity in a private collection for many, many years, until just recently. It will be in the display case at the CKCA table in the lobby for those who wish to see it. After Blade, it will almost certainly not be shown publicly again.
