I have been dealing with this person for the better part of the day trying to work out an issue. I traded a NIB Kershaw Storm2 combo edge for a Meyerco Q-maxx that was supposed to be New no box ,when I received the Q-maxx it had a few fine lines in the blade coating, a scuff on the screw nearest the lanyard and a scuff on one side of the thumbstud ,the scuffs are on the same side and look like scuffs you would get from carrying a knife ;they are in the outermost surface of the knife all the way to the bare steel (the rest of the none blade parts are oxide finished and are dull black the scuffs are bright and have lines in them) . I asked that she send the storm2 back and because she didn`t tell me about the scuffs I said I thought she should pay for the return shipping of her item and mine as there was not full disclosure . She then stated I should send her item back first as I am the one "unhappy" with the trade, I responded it isn`t that I am unhappy the knife isn`t in the condition stated in the trade thread and in that case the trade should be undone and reversed. I stated that I wanted her to send my item back first as it is her fault that the trade went south and if she will not be honest about the condition of her items I can`t be sure she will return mine in the condition it was sent . So after all this I say I will not budge on her sending my knife back first and I have no other choice but bring the issue here. This is how it sits she said I guess you have a Q-maxx and I have a storm2 unless you ship first.

Bummer, well that is one reason I refuse trades unless it is a person that I have dealt with in the past and has a good reputation. Always a good idea to look at previous posts, check the presence in the forums, etc. Also, giant wall of text is bad.

Brain, take this experience as a lesson learned. I've been toying with the idea of writing a blog post about how to trade successfully. Becaue of your experience, I think it is time. It burns when someone gives you something that is not as advertised, I know because a while back I was traded a LNIB item for an absolutely NIB item.

When somebody does something like that, IMO it should be consider the same as a bounced check! Payment void, transaction cancelled. Send my SHTUFF back or you will end up in the ugly section!

Okay, So Here Is The Story.
We Decided To Make A Trade, My Maxx-Q For His Storm.
My Maxx-Q Was New Without Box, Taken Out Of The Clam Shell, Maybe Looked At For A Moment, And Then It Was Put In A Little Plastic Knife Wrapper, and Put Away.
This Is How I Described My Item.

So I Shipped First, Because I Agreed To, And He Received It, And Is Now Coming Up With All Of These Issues, That I KNOW FOR A FACT Were NOT There.

I Shipped It In The Condition As It Came To Me.

For All I Know, He Messed It Up.

Well Since He Was Not Pleased, I Told Him I Would Trade Him Back Once I Received His Knife. (Which I Have Not Even Received Yet)

I Decided Since I Don't Know Whether He Is Playing With Me Or Not, And Since I Was The First To Ship To Begin With, That He Could Ship Mine Out, And I Would Then Ship His Out.

Considering I Figured All Of This To Happen Tomorrow, I Figured I Was Being Reasonable, Well He Argued About It, But I'm Standing My Ground.

So I Guess We Both Just Get What We Got (Or Will Get), And Just Not Deal With Each Other Again.

I've Been Very Nice, Reasonable, And Have Never Had An Issue Before. I'm Pretty New, And Have Done Very Well On The Forums.

But I Guess You Can't Always Have Good Luck With People.

Here are the pics I can try to take better ones but they do show the difference in the look of the screws on the lanyard hole area from one side to the other and the fine lines in the blade coating ,also the scuff on the thumbstud.

Yeah, this has come to be my approach too, and it's due to situations like the one described by thebrain where people represent a knife's condition as being a notch or two better than what it actually is. I've found it much easier just to sell off one knife and then use the funds to buy another, instead of trying to make a trade (although of course with discontinued knives that often won't be an option).

Here are some more pics I hope they are better , they show what I am talking about .You can easily see the "brightness" on the screw head and the thumbstud and the messed up clip screw. I hope these are better than just my word ,I have never had a problem trading before and this bums me out to no end.

She is claiming to have shipped to you first. Is this true? Did you receive her knife before you shipped yours?

This is why I alway send pics of my trades and request pics before making a deal unless I know you very well.

I always ask for people with low feedback to ship first but I did send out my knife before I received hers, I was told when I was new here that was how it is done and many others do the same. I told her right when I got it that it that is had the issues I have shown and she said it came that way, I said I didn`t care if it came that way or not I had a problem with her not telling me the knife had these flaws. New isn`t just a state of time it is also a rating of condition. I hear stories of people getting items that have been returned before and had some evidence of it but these are flaws that really look like the knife has been carried and used. I will not trust her to ship me my knife after I ship hers as she isn`t honest enough to tell me about the clear flaws in her trade item. She never posts pics of her trades I wonder why?

both clip and thumb stud look to be used quite a bit. its sad to have this happen, i hope this turns out good on your end.

There is NO reason the start a separate "he said, she said" counter-thread.

Just answer to the arguments in the thread already started on the deal, so we don't have to bounce back and forth to figure out the story. I am going to merge the threads.

Bladechick77 ship the knife back to thebrain.

The bottom line is you lied about the shape of your knife, made a deal in bad faith and now are trying to take a dump on an upstanding member of this community.
READ the forum rules, if he is not happy, the trade is not done, end of story.

I have dealt with thebrain more than once, he is a great guy, not good, not OK, a real straight up honest to god stand up dude.

Make this right.
