BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

...which 3?
This one sits on my desk at work. It's perfect for packages and envelopes, and other office chores.

I've been carrying this one off and on.

And this is still my favorite, from back in the day when deciding what to ask for was three months of vitrole and recrimination...

I still believe the best thing the Traditional forum ever did was get some very hard to find patterns offered up.

You didn’t like the stag 77? Or the bunny? Or the 35?

Why do I suddenly feel like Ralph Fiennes as the nasty in Schindlers List?....no worries each and everyone is a gem in its own way...as will 2024...
"The man who gets everything he dreams of is the happiest man in the world"
Wonka....or something like that...😀

I think what grinds my gears a bit is how good it could be… and what it appears it will be is something that really bears an uncanny resemblance to a Rough Rider, not a company always known for inspired design.

But it IS a 3 blade stockman from GEC, so fingers crossed the mechanicals will be excellent.

I’m not convinced the finished product will feel at all like a Rough Ryder. Rough Ryders are cheap and clumsy; blades consistently too thick, frames built overly bulky as quick fixes to blade well challenges. They look like knives made by someone who was instructed to create a product they have limited experience with, but could replicate the general form.

Last year’s, as much as I love Ol’ Humpy, had the same color and jigging as a knife I bought back in 2018, and seen a bunch of times since in other offerings. This knife is not common.

I’ve got a gut feeling that once people start popping tubes and snapping pictures that the tune is going to change and many of the naysayers will see the error in their judgement.

I've bought every BF knife starting in 2010 and have gifted all but three to various BF members. The three I've kept are the 2020, 2022, and 2023 knives. I had a spare 2022 knife and gifted it to a BF member's wife.

I revisited the last image provided to us and still believe the coloring to be a bit light but not bad and easily darkened with potassium permanganate if necessary.

I’m just glad you hung on to a bunny, those are one of the finest GEC knives made in my opinion.

I hope it doesn’t offend but when I think of your posts I think of either Case or Stockman 🙂.

Does anyone know if the corset shield was used by any cutler other than GEC and Queen?
