BladeForums.com COVID-19 Response

The sooner everyone chills the hell out and does what they're told, the sooner this thing will blow over. Or the sooner everyone completely disregards all medical advice and goes to parties and movie theaters at every opportunity, the sooner this thing will blow over but with more tragic results. Either/or, not both, it'll take about the same amount of time either way, everyone needs to collectively pick one, and only one. I'm stuck in NJ until business as normal resumes and I'm sick of it.

Well chaps from the UK here. It's started.
The government has started a mass, yet still covert deployment of the British Army around the country. By the looks of things were not just talking a few troops to support the police were talking MBT's and APC's with troops in full battle dress.
NOTHING on mainstream media and NO announcements from the government. Rumours on social media (which I'm not on) and even a video or two on Youtube. But I have three relatives who have today all eyeballed multiple LARGE army convoys throughout the country, and an army staging post being set up on a motorway service station parking lot. One of my brothers is a pilot and can confirm a significant increase in domestic military air traffic over the UK.

I know the army has been deployed in France and Italy to assist the police but the scale of this UK deployment seems far above and beyond whats occurred on the continent.

The troop build up is happening here in the U.S. also. People have witnessed the convoys arriving at a facility near me and has been confirmed by an employee of that facility. A phone conversation confirmed a similar staging happening in a western state. I assume it is much more wide spread than this.

One reason (other insane hoarding) for the obsessive purchasing of TP, as well as clearing of food off shelves is that now all these people that used to eat out 1 or 2 times per day and also take a dump or 2 each day at work or school are now eating and pooping at home, where they are now needing more of those items.

Between the 4 of us, my family has used 5 rolls in the past 2 weeks and I've had horrible nightmarish diarrhea twice.

Just throwing this out there. I think a great plan would be to try and test as many people for the virus and start to quarantine them if testing positive. In the mean time provide everyone with gloves, regulation mask and in addition implementing protection procedures to enable us to interact with each other and get back to work. It would be much cheaper for everyone than to continue on the road we are currently on. Think about it you wear a condom to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

Gloves are fine but you still can't touch your face. Some masks are fine as long as they do not leak or become contaminated.
Covid-19 virus is being grown in cell-culture. The CDC just knows now they must stop the spread so as to not over burden hospitals and staffs so until they know more the best and only thing to do is quarantine the population in question.

Thanks for your response GaryFlorida. I hope more people will chime in and give their opinions on the situation at hand maybe we can all come up with a solution. That’s definitely one of the main things to do is not touch your face. I highly commend our health care teams who are truly on the front line of this virus. They are protecting themselves the best way they can with the resources available to them. I hear there’s a shortage of personal protection items and hopefully that issue will be remedied so they can continue to treat those afflicted with this virus.

When I shop in the supermarket I wear lined leather gloves (winter) with good manual dexterity. The odds of my touching anything on my face or mouth wearing those gloves is nil. The market is sparely populated with wide aisles, so it’s not difficult to keep ones distance. I buy pre-packaged fruits and veggies where possible—no one has manhandled them or coughed directly on them.

Other than that I’ve been staying indoors or walking in the neighborhood. About all I can do keep myself and others safe.

Yeah - why do farmers even bother to grow fruits and vegetables? Nobody's going to buy stuff that's grown in the dirt from them when we can get nice clean packaged fruits and vegetables at the store.
It’s funny… I never saw prepackaged produce until I moved here. I found it odd. Now, after watching people grope and squeeze everything, I don’t have a problem buying pre-packed.

Until you see the places that prepackaged stuff is made and all the boogers and snot and spit and cough juice that runs into it.
I grow my own damn veggies now.

I’m only talking about buying a bag of apples rather than sorting through them and bagging them—not packaged or processed (washed) lettuces, etc.

The bagged apples, carrots, potatoes, lemons, kiwis, etc. look fine.
