Serious collection for a fact ! The Russells are probably my favorites, but yes, the Stagg Junior is the way to go if you are into good Bourbon.
All of them are good but I would singled out the Stagg, EC18 and the Midwinter Night Dram, all tasty sips.

Cheers !

Ironically, I have never seen Stagg Jr in person in any store but have managed to get hold of a few bottles of George T Stagg. Weird.

But that's not Pappy...
Neither are these

True . . . but they are often (incorrectly) grouped together.

I'll have to go back to actually drink a pour of Pappy 15 & 20.. As I recall, they wanted $90 & $110/pour for them , which is why I went for the Van Winkle 10 instead for "just" $70.

sgt1372 sgt1372 Yikes - that's about what I paid for my last bottles of 15 and 20 yrs (after sales tax). Then things got crazy...
Suggested retail on the 20 yr has doubled since then... Street price tends to be over 10x suggested retail (except where liquor is state run)

Dropped by my local Costco. No Eagle Rare 10 in sight.

1st time I've been in a Costco in about a year and the visit reminded me why I hate going there, especially on a weekend. Super crowded w/people in a huge hurry (to where I'm not sure) and others who rudely leave their carts parked in the middle of a narrow aisle or in front of display cases so no one else can have access to it.

Hope I don't "need" to go back to Costco again for another year. ;)

Well $90-110 per pour is a lot better than the $2-3k+ that I've seen for the cost of a bottle of Pappy 15 or 20, when I actually saw one available for sale.

Weekend costco visit is a rookie move. Thursday or Friday morning are your best bets.

I'm no rookie. I started shopping at the Price Club -- which later merged w/Costco -- years before Costco even started doing business in 1983.

Normally would have gone mid-week but I needed/wanted to check out the Eagle Rare situation which we only discussed yesterday. I was ready to cruise by 4 Costcos in a loop to buy more if I saw any at the 1st one. Had it all mapped out. LOL! ;)

I was in the parking lot by 8:15 (I normally get there by 8:30, even on weekdays) to pick my perferred parking spot and wait for the place to open.

If I saw any Eagle Rare, I was just going to buy a bottle (or more if possible) and move on to the next store but, since there was none there, I did some shopping and ended up spending $200 on a variety of thingsthat I did and didn't need, including 6 bottles of Roderer Estate Brut sparking wine. :)

Only spent 1/2 hr there -- was out by 930 and home by 10.

Just as an FYI, at least in mine, the drops mostly seem to happen on a Friday. I would suggest calling them and see if they actually do get shipments in, some Costcos do not.

Ha I remember going to Price Club when I was a wee lad.

Nah!

1 trip there to look was enough. I'll just keep an eye out where ever I go.

I just bought 2 bottles of Eagle Rare for $35@ to bring my "reserve" back up to 6 bottles less than a month ago at BevMo.

Not everyone is price gouging for it but I'm not drinking any more of it unless or until I can buy more at or about that price.

Okay, I went to the liquor store to check on Eagle Rare and not a bottle to be found. Not wanting to leave the whiskey section empty-handed, I decided to try this "French Oaked" version of Maker's Mark. The 375mL was only $20 so why not?

Well, it was a win! It has been a few years since my last bottle of Maker's Mark but this is definitely better. It is brighter, richer, and more lively than my memory of the original. Early in the glass, I noticed a fun thing happening between the vanilla and bread notes that reminded me of french toast.

I added another splash and tried it against this Cohiba Pequeno. It didn't pair as well as I'd hoped. It brightened the smoke a little and accentuated the leather notes. They weren't bad together but I feel like the bourbon had more to offer before I lit up. I might try it with other cigars... you know, for science.
