Well, the lineup from last night "session" with my Bourbon buddies. 😁
IMO, in relative order I like them the most, with very small margins, all absolutely enjoyable drinks:

*Booker's Little Book, unbelievable pour, released about 2 years back. Very complex, true Classic Bourbon taste.
*Old Forester, Single Barrel, Full Proof (!!!). Delicious, thick, long finish, my favorite from this lineup, because its fairly available and with decent price.
*Frank August. Not a person's name... 🤣 Delicious, light, classic Bourbon taste, fine liquor, complex taste.
Seasonal, release is usually around the month of August.
Masterfully blended from Bardstown source. If one can get it, I'd highly recommend it. Total Wine is where I find the cheapest price, around $70.
*Dixon Dedman's (from the Kentucky Owl) 2xO (Twice Barreled in Oak) inexpensive version of his top shelf, $100 line as the InnKeeper.
Fine, smooth, very drinkable, delicious, not in your face Bourbon, great presentation bottle for a gift, and available for around $50. Love it.
I was very curious about this one and after we tried it, I'll treat myself with another bottle !

We didn't get to the Blue Note but it is good quality Bourbon from Tennessee, you'll never go wrong with this one.

The other two bottles are my Amburana experiment with chips from Southeast Company.
Cigar Cut/Batch/Blend are popular this days and very expensive, usually 2-3 different casks finished top quality Bourbon.
I mixed one bottle (#1) of Buffalo Trace mashbil #1 - Benchmark BIB 50abv and
another bottle (#2) with 60% Weller Wheated Bourbon and 40% Old Forester Rye.

The result is very concentrated Amburana taste in #1 and much smoother, mellow taste in #2 even both are around 50abv.
I would drink #2 for itself over ice, it's enjoyable. #1 I would add to another drink, probably 20% of it. It pleasantly changes the taste to the nice Amburana hints.

Basically, for $16 one would pay for the chips, you can treat few gallons of liquor of your choice to the expensive finish of $140 "Cigar" Blend Bottle.
I did try few "Cigar" blends, my favorites are the masters of blend - Starlight and Old Elk, and when added to another good finished juice,
let's say - Chattanooga Rum Finished Bourbon, there is little to none difference with the expensive bottles, you'd save about $100...
I think it worth the money and sharing it...:thumbsup:

Cheers Gents, hope you're having nice weekend !!!

I’d love to be able to find that Old Forester Single Barrel around me. I’ve heard good things about it and I love their Whisky Row bottles.

I think I’ll try experimenting with some wood as well, you have inspired me!

Interesting. Thanks for the insights.

Tottaly agree, OF is one of my favorites, SB probably the most of their line up... Also not easy to find it around me in Tampa bay area, FL.
In my experience, every year's release is slightly different but well worth it.
Good luck !

Interesting. Thanks for the insights.
Any time you need more info Sir, it's the simplest thing to make, exactly to your likings
and I think it goes really well with the JD you like, or Rye, or finished in Rum or Cognac liquors !
I think, once in a while could be really nice addition to the everyday drink.
