I got mine today. It was worth Rogers and benchmades trouble and effort. It is aligned perfectly, lock up is just right with no play. Grinds are great, and it came with a arm hair shaving edge.
I put my own edge on it and once again I'll say this is one of the easiest high performance steels to get really, really sharp. IMO, it takes a better edge than S30V, and D2. It should out do them by a bit in the wear resistance, and shock/impact resistance, but I haven't done any testing to prove that yet.
I do know that I could live with this steel for all uses, except perhaps diving/fishing knife due to it's corrosion potential, which seems worse than D2, and even M2. I'g give it same class as 52100 depending on finish for corrosion. Not a problem for me, and once again just a guess.
I will say it's easier to sharpen than any of the stainless "super steels" ( don't really like that term, it's too subjective). To me, it's easier than M2 at RC 62 appx for both. Much easier to get really sharp than ZDP, S90V, S30V, and even BG42. It's like CPM 154cm, but strops better and is easier to deburr.
You can tell I really like CPM M4. I guess I'll still take ZDP for thin folders, but give me M4 for everything else this side of a crow bar. I like it better than 3V for the darksider stuff. I've found nothing responds to a good polish/strop like M4 does. It has that savage edge that only tungsten containing steels have. Joe
