See, that right there just proves.my dedication to this project

 Can't argue with that. Tell you what, buy one of the knives I'm getting rid of and I'll send that to you and you can review it.

I didn't get a lot of time with them but I did post a video on my YT channel. Bigghoss762. I sent an email since I don't have a gold membership and can't PM.

Man y'all got me craving catfish now...

Checking in.. On the road, somewhere in Maryland.

Just remembered how much I hate touchscreens.

We got the truck loaded in under an hour and took off... Wasn't out of Philadelphia yet the first time the kids asked how much longer .

Were?! I believe young Spike, you used the wrong tense there buddy. :-P

Safe travels WW, remember Benedryl isn't just the perfect babysitter for when you have to leave the kids alone. It also works great for when you want the kids to leave you alone.

Hoss, what did you think of the condors? I'll ask here, shoot it's the snark thread. We talk plenty about other knives. Cause I highly doubt they will outperform the Beckers. Simply based on my experience with them, however for what they are, they are a DAMNED nice knife.

Condor makes some interesting stuff. Tough and cheap, and some interesting designs. Condors would make great project blades too. Beckers have the advantage of being such great products to begin with, and then have a fantastic team standing behind them to provide product support. The way I think of it, Condors are knives. Beckers are family.

Good point cbear, although I like to think I've gotten better. At least now I can put head phones in and not annoy people to much

First off I should reiterate that I got my Condor blades from 42blades (baryonxknife.com and yes he is a site sponsor). He hand inspects each item and for a few extra bucks he'll put on his "special grade", basically he'll do some work and improve the edge on whatever product you're buying and he knows what he's doing. I sprang for the special grade since Condors usually come with a pretty thick edge and thinning them takes a long time with just a WorkSharp. I cannot emphasis enough how much I enjoy this service and I get all my Condor blades through him now and pay for the special grade, so if you order from somewhere else you'll have a different experience unless you have a belt sander and can adjust the edge yourself. Order from 42blades and spring for the special grade, you won't be disappointed.

Anyway, when I first got the blades I was a little concerned about the balance, all three were much more neutrally balanced than I would have expected. But after trying them out I'm pretty happy with them and thought they all did pretty well. I still would prefer a little less weight in the handle but I don't think I'll bother trying to modify it unless down the road the wood scales break and need replacing anyway. The Eco Parang is just a smaller Bushcraft Parang (which I also enjoy) right down to the sheath and handle molded around the tang so there isn't much you can do to shed weight there. But it is a light piece and is very handy.

I'll be hanging onto them for a while so expect a better review in the future.

I should also mention about the Golock Machete and 42's special grade. As it comes from the factory the Golock Machete has a distal taper. The handle and base of the blade are .25" and it gets thinner as you go to the tip. When Condor grinds the edge they keep the grind height the same which means the edge is more obtuse near the handle. When you get the special grade the grind is raised and the edge made a consistent angle the length of the blade. I find this preferable and most others will too but some may not. Just something to think about.

So just for the heck of it I ordered a BK4. Should be here Monday. I'm going to have to re-do my Which Becker video.

On a separate note, I'm planning on going out for an overnighter Sunday and doing 24 hours with my BK9 as my only tool, it'll be the first of what I hope to be a recurring series on my youtube channel where I only bring one tool with me to really learn it's capabilities and develop my skills in the process. I'm starting with the Bk9 because I already know I can do almost anything with it but eventually I plan to work my way down to stuff like just a Laplander, Mora, or a Leatherman. Need to charge my camera batteries this time. I won't be limiting myself in terms of shelter/bedding, food, or water so I'll be bringing plenty of that stuff as well as as lighters and firesteels but I do plan to try to get a fire started with a bow drill first, which I have never attempted before.

That sounds like an awesome video. I will be watching for sure!

I have never done a bow drill fire either. I have been making a bow drill for the last couple days. I might try it this weekend. With my crushed vertebrae though...I'm not expecting much.

I went with pine on pine. Any ideas what you want to use, or are you just going to to head out and figure it out?

I have a nice Sony HD video camera I keep wanting to make a video with...I just hate seeing myself on camera...always look like a big goof to my self. Then I delete it.

Mauser killed the snark! Even Worldwood stopped by and couldn't save it! Infraction please.

Someone asked me to take some in hand shots of the Gransfors Bruks Wildlife hatchet when it came in. Here ya go:

1.3 lbs, with a 13.5 inch handle. Great weight and balance to it. Perhaps the perfect size for a hatchet.

And this is why we can't have nice things

Better keep me off the carpet too.

Still bored Spike? I know how that is. SUCKS. At least you have your hands. I was learning to do everything lefty. One thing I did was watch a bunch of youtube videos on Altoids tin survival kits. Then I made several of them. Then made char cloth for the first time. Pretty fun distraction. Also binge watched most the survival shows all over again.

Definitely still bored, been binge watching a few show, as well as plain some video games. But I'm quickly running out of knives to sharpen so I might need to find a new activity. The Altoid tins sound interesting

All kinds of cool skills to learn on the interwebs. Why don't you teach yourself how to pick locks? That's an entertaining and fairly time consuming activity that's a useful skill to have. Or learn how to fix household appliances.

I have a question for you guys, I turn 18 in a couple months and have been thinking of celebrating it with a cigar. Never smoked before so was wondering what you guys reccomend

Find a newspaper and roll a dog turd up in it.
Save yourself a few bucks...because they all tast like crap! Lol

From what ive had I like Gurkha's and Sosa's. Gurkha has alot of different styles and flavors. All good IMO. Ive only had one style of Sosa but they were very good. Though if I was you id take the money you were going to spend on one a good cigar and have somebody buy you a couple 40 ozers.:D

Online stores have lots of great sampler packs for cigars. If you want alot of variety in strengh's/flavors would get a Gurkha sampler pack.
