Bose Knives

if any of you are in the nashville area this coming saturday, may 16th, tony and i will be at the case event at shepherd hills cutlery so come by and see us. We might have a bose knife or two or three that you can ce and cf, if ya knowmsayin :d
have fun! Fun! Fun & take lots of pictures!!!!;):d

Here's one that found it's way back to the Wilfred Works for a little edge touch up. Tony believes he made this one in the early 80s. It is patterned after the Case muskrat with the exception the bosters are squared on this knife and the Case pattern had rounded bolsters. Blades and springs are D2. The stag has attained a buttery look to it from all the hand time.:cool:

One thing I almost forgot to mention, the bolsters are nickel/silver and the pivot pins are stainless. Tony was initially using NS for pivot pins and found that material to be unsuitable.

Something that might be of historical interest to some -- a couple days ago I was taking apart an old beater Robeson (script ShurEdge, pre 1940) -- brass liners, NS bolsters and pivot pins, brass center pin -- and found the job of taking it apart quite a bit harder than I expected. It seems that while the scale and shield pins were fairly soft, Robeson used some seriously work hardened pins for the pivots and center pin. Put several large notches in the edge of the knife I was using to take it apart (an old OVB kitchen knife). These things had to be at least 3/4 hard to begin with - probably nearly full hard after peening. I remember at least one old manufacturer used spring tempered brass for their liners to make their knives more durable. There were tricks and there were tricks.

Since it's quiet in sleepy little BoseHotown, I thought it might be a good time to remind the folksy citizens here of this; Even though it's quiet, Do not fear. The Old Dog is en guarde and ready for the big show down South.

R U?

It was good enough to use it twice, don't you think?

Since I'm already pickup up a Gossman and Zscherny, I won't have room for a Bose if I draw one...who wants it????????

and I'll mail them to him as long as he gives me a few days after blade for some CEin; and CFin'.

I tell you what, Tony handles the rock star fame in stride. Blade can be a tiresome weekend to say the least.

Agreed, and that goes for anyone who hasn't got the "room"!!

Wishful thinking on my part??

Tony's very cool at the show! If I remember right, the show is setting aside a room for the knife drawing!? It was quite the mob scene last year!!
