Bose Knives

Charlie, Were the fixed blade harness knife and punch based on vintage patterns? I haven't previously seen them as separate tools in a set -- very neat!

(pssst...see if you find the thing that Tony made me break on one of MY projects and then had the gall to say, "uh...I've never done THAT before".)

Is it that tang that looks like it broke at the choil in the background -- a crinking gone wrong?

Good eye ;)

Jake, I've seen lots of vintage punches, but no fixed blade types except Tony's. He made that set with me in mind, if I remember, but every Leathersmith could make use of a set like that I think. Every one of those punches will make a precise hole, even an oval if needed!
I used to make a living at custom leather goods, but have changed careers a couple of times since.

I can't say I've noticed fixed leather punches in the old catalogs, but I'm pretty sure I've seen a "knife" that was only a folding leather punch - no blade. I can't see why people back then would want one though -- surely you'd want a blade too? I've never seen a actual example of it though. It's not like the lockback screwdriver blade only Empire electrician -- the screwdriver blade is a real blade too.

I'd prefer a lockback if someone ever decided to make one....

That set was made for the tack room, did you ever make the leather for them Charlie. Hmmmmmm?

I (obviously) forgot that project . . . .I still remember my name though!!
I have about 100 little projects I've put back for retirement - I better start writing them down! I've always been one to bite off more than I can chew!
