Bose Knives

JC,
I know exactly how you feel. The same thing happened to me about a year ago. Now, slipjoints, lockbacks & a couple straight knives comprise most of my knife collection.

Dan, You need to give JC the password and secret handshake. See any similarities:D

I have recently found a new love in slip joint knives. Six months ago I never gave them another look. Then I started getting the itch and needed to scratch it. Now I find myself looking for more slippies than other knives. So far I have 5 Bose knives. 4 in the house and one en-route. I also have two Dowell's on the way and one Menefee. Can't wait to get my paws on the latter three. Here is what I have so far.

Welcome to the sickness JC. BTW: The Harness Jack is a great snag. You beat me to it by mere moments.:D

JC,

What a great "Starter" collection! Ha! You are far ahead of many of us already! The knives that you have, and the ones that are 0/0 will give you a dandy group! Congrats!

The Bose incoming is a ivory Swayback Prototype by Tony. I will post pics when she arrives.

Very nice collection, JC!! I especially like the Harness Jack!

Keep up the good work!!

As promised, here are photos of the ivory Swayback prototype by Tony. I just can't get over the outstanding quality of these knives. This has opened a whole new world of knife collecting for me. I am thinking a Dog Leg Jack next.

I do see similarities. JC has lost his mind just like I did. :) Someone with way more senority than me should be reavealing secret handshakes & such. :)

Maybe I missed it, but what makes this one the prototype Tony? Was it the first swayback you made, maybe the first 3.25in SB you made, etc. etc.

Prototypes are stamped "Prototype". Tangs stamped "0" are the first in the series 0-9
A new size of an existing pattern spawns a new proto and series.

I was told that they don't stamp "Prototype" any longer. The knives marked 0 are prototypes.

Who told you that?...the person that sold you the Harness Jack maybe? When in doubt call 812-397-5114. ;)

Well duh.....but it didn't answer my question silly goose! ;) I was on my phone looking at the picture and couldn't see if it was a newer stamp by Tony or an older one. So I asked if this was the proto of the pattern or a proto of the size, etc. You need to straighten up your act. I've decided. Thank you. Campbell out.
