Bose Knives

Gotta love the W.Trapper and that's a nice one...well shucks they're all nice.

This knife is patterned after a Camillus 4 line trapper (so named because there are 4 lines of text on the tang stamp). Tony has made this pattern before but two things are unique about this knife. This is the first of this pattern to get a cut swedge on the spay blade. This is also the first of this pattern to get fluted bolsters. Looks like Tony makes smiles too :D

No Robuck, ya don't use this to carve up a moose.:D

This is actually a hybrid carving knife. The blade was made by Tony and KnifeHead hafted it with some very old, nicely figured moose antler scales. (Queue Bullwinkle jokes :p)

Tony sliced some stag off of a roll he picked up and positioned it in just the right spot on this blade. Thought you might like to see it

The stag on that desk knife is really nice. Here are a few desk knives with mammoth ivory scales. Please note the sheaths for these knives were made by our vey own Kerry Hamptom:thumbup::thumbup: Thanks Kerry

The soul of a Sheffield cutler has been re-incarnated here! Beautiful fitting of those stag scales, Tony!!

Nice sheaths Kerry! Consistent workmanship. St. Crispin is watching over you (the patron saint of leather workers).

This past Wednesday evening, Tony and I visited with an old friend from his construction work days. As it turns out, Freddie is also a character that used to frequent my family's owned and operated service station when I was a kid in the 60's and early 70's. Little did I know then that our paths would one day meet again in our mutual friendship with Tony. Freddie has been collecting Bose knives since Reese was in high school, which is where Tony introduced himself to Freddie. Freddie's wife was one of Reese's teachers.

Have you heard about the first knife Tony made. It was made in 1972 from a industrial hacksaw blade, black walnut handle carved with a knife, aluminum guard, and a sheath made from parts of an old saddle. The knife is about 9" OAL.

Here is an unusual droppoint hunter and sheath made around '77-'78. The blade is O1, brass bolsters/pins/thong tube, and black linen Micarta.

Here's a T.Bose Droppoint Hunter hafted with Immistag(bone jigged to look like stag). It's a little grubby from the last hunting trip. :) Blade is D2

Freddie has a few of Reese's knives as well. Here is a Little Swinger, about 7" long, hafted with amber stag(dyed), made with D-2 w/taperd tang.

Here is a hunter/skinner set by Reese in D-2 and amber stag.

More to come tomorrow.

Kerry, thanks for all the pics and stories. It's clear that even back then that Tony had mad knifemaking skills. Love that carver and the stag on that desk knife.

A whittling I would go, but use it for the leather work and works like a dream
much thanks to Mr Bose for this jewel;

This is great! A history lesson, on my favorite subject!
Thanks Kerry et. al.

Thanks for posting those, Kerry. I especially liked seeing the knife Tony made from a hacksaw blade. It's kind of point "A" on the evolution scale.

I like that set by Reese. It must have been fun looking at these knives with Tony and Freddie.

Man, all the images on page 44 of this thread have been a treat! Really great getting to see some of Tony and Reese's early work. And, all fixed blades (on this page), except for the unique trapper.
Keep 'em coming!

- Joe
