Bose Knives

Neither I nor Kerry can make it this year. But I suggest that next year, Kerry rekindle an old tradition of making a list of "Bose Hoes" who will be in attendance. I think in 2007, he was actually posting the list as names were added.

Next year would be good. I doubt I'll be going this year.

The Case/Bose pulled the duty today:

Great photos! I've been known to catch a few of those and use a T.Bose knife on em... :)

I recently sold a BP that is now coming back to me. It also has CPMV10. Tony, if I recall, you said it was tough to grind but also a very wear-resistant metal. In all the years I owned it, I think I only had to sharpen it once. The edge held up wonderfully. If I decide to keep it when I get it back, I may really put it to the test and see how hard I can use it. Like yours Mike, it was starting to get a really nice patina.

Campbell, you should keep it. Tony and I were texting last night (yes, he does text!) about how great that steel is. He told me the same thing a long time ago; tough to grind and that he probably wouldn't make any more knives with it. It's my go to knife for camping and fishing. (Although I learned to never set it down in grassy, leafy areas because it's hard to find.) I didn't even notice the patina until you mentioned it. Cuts great!

I agree Don, that Primble takes some great pics.

Thank you for the kind words Don and Mike.:thumbup::)

I was at the dock cleaning station when the pics were taken. I got to thinking later that those gills could have flipped my knife in the lake, while I was trying to get the pics. They were pretty lively at the time. The water is about forty feet deep, just on the other side of the counter. :o:eek::D

Maybe Campbell will re-tell the story of dragging a river/lake for a Bose.

:eek::eek: Scary! Scary stuff Primble!

:D

Here's what Tony is carrying. Campbell, he said he's thinking about throwing it in the river because it's starting to get a patina. I offered to take it off his hands but no luck.

Here is the BP I'm carrying now. One of our dear old friends (Riad a/k/a RAN) sold me this one several years ago. I actually thought I lost it on a boar hunting trip to Florida a few weeks ago, but I found it in one of the dog crates (covered in $%#@$@).

And speaking of Riad, he was also nice enough to help me complete my Arkansa Hunter trio. I wish I had that one back........

Very nice knives Troy and Campbell.

Nice crisp pics of the Reese Bose Back Pocket Troy.:thumbup::)

I need a T. Bose knife. Please don't fling that beauty in the river Tony !!! :D:D:D

A couple Bose designs that resulted in some fine knife values from Case. :

Hoping the Swayback Jack gets to be a Case/Bose Collaboration knife in the future.

Campbell, the feeling of that one going missing would have made me sick to my stomach. I am glad to hear that you found it, even if the dogs didn't like it so much.

Thanks for the help Rob.

Have some catching up to do on this thread. Always a joy to see the awesome Bose knives posted and hearing the experiences from those that use them.

Just now learning about Tony using CPM10V steel in earlier knives. I have not seen any of his folders with that steel out there until now. I know one of Tony's favorite stainless blades for use is CPM440V. I looked up the specs and the stainless has 17% chromium, the 10V has 5% chromium and both are high in vanadium. Would like to hear more experiences with CPM10V use. I am intrigued.

Joe, see Jim Ankerson's steel edge-holding mega-thread here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...based-on-Edge-Retention-cutting-5-8-quot-rope

CPM-10V is considered an A11 class steel, and currently is the edge-holding king among knife steels. The second half of post #1 lists cutting info for blades with a course edge at 400 grit. 10V/A11 steels account for 5 of the top 6, and the stainless version, 110V is the sixth one. I used a 110V fixed blade @60 HRc a couple years back at our deer camp, and five large whitetails were gutted, skinned and butchered with it without sharpening and it still cut with great ease afterward. The carbon 10V/A11 steels are tough enough to take to high hardness with a very thin edge for increased wear resistance. At 63 HRc, CPM-10V has the same impact toughness as 440C @ 58, but 18 times the wear resistance! Phenomenal stuff.

New pictures of a really nice knife. Not a custom Bose, but, the next thing to it. I have been totin' it around lately.
