Bose Knives

Wow! Congrats Jake. That is so very nice. Love the swedges!

Thanks Gary. Sadly the OT gig in Syracuse has run its course for the time being and we never had the chance to meet up. Someday we will!!

At the risk of being guilty of photo spamming I'm putting my entry to the club here. Stopped by my local knife emporium this week and asked if they had the Case Bose sowbelly stockman. They fid indeed. My first ebony handled knife and first Bose collaboration.

I look forward to it, Jake! Maybe you'll have that Cattleman's with you for a little CE & CF! ;)

Duderubble, that's a nice sowbelly but it isn't part of the Case/Bose Collaboration line. It is in the sense that Tony helped with the design of the knife but it's not on par with the yearly released collaboration patterns.

With the real collaboration knives, Tony makes two knives to send to Case. One finished knife and one that can be taken apart. Case then uses all of the parts to have copies made through a process called EDM Wire Cutting. All of the copies parts are cut out to extreme tolerances. These knives are then hand fitted and scaled in a few different handle materials, limited quantities of each. Knives get 154CM steel, bronze bushings and are very well finished.

They retail for much more than the standard production line of course, $300-$500 depending on handle scale. What you get is a close to handmade custom knife at a cheaper price.

Here's a link to all of the patterns and the numbers of each that have been completed under the Collaboration program. If you ever have a chance to handle one of these knives, you'll be amazed. I've had a few and they were all really close to many of the customs that I have.

You know I'll bring anything you want to see if it's planned out ahead of time. There's a few of yours I'd really like to check out myself!

Thanks for the explanation. Kind of confusing when they are selling the others with his signature.

So I'm not in the club yet. Darn.

Nice Sowbelly!
If the model # starts with 'TB' I'd say you are in the club (the one I'm in anyway :)), and if the production collab knives put you in the club so should the production TB pattern knives IMNSHO.
I've had both production and collab knives and the Swayback Jack is every bit the knife my Norfolk Whittler is, it just doesn't have the high end stainless steel the Norfolk has, or the finer finishing touches.
I may never own a handmade Tony Bose knife, but I will be in good company either way.

I like that line of reasoning, lol. That would put me in the club for my blue bone sway back too!

I didn't mean to say you weren't in the club dude! Sorry if my post came across that way, I just wasn't sure if you had ever tried out the higher end collaboration knives that are made off of the actual parts that Tony has made. I wasn't excluding you at all lol. I guess they're all considered collab knives since Tony has a hand in the design and specs and basically conferences with Case on how they should be made but there is a difference between the higher end knives and the ones with Tony's name on them that are made under the standard product line.

I said I'd never spend that much on a Bose Knife either at one point. I've come to my senses and figured a couple of true Bose Knives was well worth selling off the majority of my production knives. I'm not regretting my decision one bit, they're everything that you would expect!

Thanks Kris. I've looked at your cattle knife so much and now I'm really happy to have my own to enjoy. It's the perfect size and the blade arrangement is perfect for anything I can think of. It'll be going hiking and fishing with me tomorrow for sure.

My goodness, Jake! I do believe you've outdone yourself.

That's a grail knife if there ever was such a thing!

Thanks Flymon, it certainly isn't a kids knife, that's for sure!!

Rick, I was looking forward to comparing this to the Case/Bose Cattle Knife. Aside from the obvious difference of main blade, and the fit and finish differences, the one standout was the weight. The R. Bose is noticeably lighter. I expected it to feel heftier than it does as the Case/Bose did.

Also, the grinds are much thinner on the R. Bose, especially when looking at the secondary blades. I can't see any other reason for the weight difference and I'm sure the grinds don't account for all of it but I was surprised nonetheless.

Then again, without a scale, and without the Case/Bose in hand anymore since I sold it to a friend, maybe it's all in my head but I'm pretty sure the difference is there.

If you or anyone else can weigh their Case/Bose Cattle Knife, I'd be interested in comparing.

Stay tuned, Jake. All I have is a cheap analog kitchen scale but I'll get you a weight here in a little while.

Beautiful knife Jake. Glad to see you finally hopped into the deep end as well ;) Couldn't have done better. Now show off the other one! >:)

Rick...measured it out and it's 3.1oz on the dot! I knew there was a difference lol.

Thanks Tim! In due time bud, haven't seen that Coffin Jack in a while. You use that thing yet??
