BPS Knives of Ukraine

I'll be interested to see if the savage sheath is as stout as my HK6 sheath. It looks a little different.

Is the HK5 the scandi and the HK6 the saber?
Yes, I had to have a look at their site Jer. I was thinking the number referred to the size of the blade in inches, but I imagine they're metric in Ukraine. I have the HK4, but that has a flat grind

All the sheaths I've had from them have been of high quality, but I found the sheath I received with my Savage a little narrow, so I bought another sheath from them, which I prefer. Here's the original sheath Jer

My HK6 sheath was pretty tight, but it wore in nicely. Probably with a little help from neatsfoot oil and/or shoe wax.
I've almost gone for the HK4, but went for the longer one.

It's here.
The sheath arrived less tight than the Hk6's. It already has about the right snugness.

I suspect the towelette is a desiccant.
The slabs were ground a bit small, but I don't think that will kill me.
I didn't notice in the description what the wood is. I'm guessing bog oak.
[Yup, bog oak.]

Congratulations Jer  Shame about the handle slabs. It looks like they're ground before being fitted :(
No idea how to safely use it!
That's a shame :(

Yes, I think they must be. It's a fair-sized aesthetic gaffe, to my mind, and it seems a pretty simple thing to mess up, but I don't think it's going to hurt my hand.
If it does hurt my hand I'll probably apply some hockey tape, but I might make walnut handles. I won't grind the tang down, or I'd have a step to the back of the blade. Anyway, that would be too much work for too little return.
Maybe somebody had to jump over a missile while grinding the slabs.
They left one end a little frizzy, too.

That is unfortunate. I had heard of a few that had an issue like this, where the slabs weren't nice and flush with the tang. I guess I got lucky with my adventurer as the fit and finish on it was quite outstanding. The walnut handles sound nice though 😉

The bog oak is cool, but I might just go with the walnut. I'd rather have the lanyard go through the handle slabs anyway.
No hurry on it.

I think I watched a YouTube video where the guy replaced the handles, as well as forcing a patina while he was at it

Same here, all mine have been perfect

That'd be a good project Jer  I'd also rather have the lanyard hole like that. How about a red fibre liner for the handles, and a steel/brass liner for the lanyard hole?

Whatcha getting?
Well I was supposed to sell things to pay for my car insurance and a new washing machine.

The drum has turned into a IED,now I have a pile of wet unwashed clothes that I cant even wring as I only have one good hand since my accident. 🤣

Well you asked but didnt expect a story.🤭

Anyway logic doesent come into it.these 2 looked most useful.

Normally I like stainless for outdoorsy stuff so this time went for carbon on the compact camp knife,I may buy some corby bolts and make it look even more traditional.

I opted for 3 payments though they arent pricey 😊

Oh no! Talk about 'When it rains!' I broke a tendon in my hand a decade or so ago, frustrating time! 😖

I paid for delivery, fitting and removal of the old one which bumps the price.

The hardest thing was using a tape measure one handed with my knee bleeding at the same time.🤣

It turns out currys only had 4 small machines that fitted my gap, good job I measured.

Still in the scheme of things its nothing, whats happening in Ukraine is a disgrace to the rest of us in the world,it makes my blood boil.
