Bret Dowell Knives

Thanks bud. I gave it a once over with my buffing wheel to remove the handling marks that were on it. It cleaned the oily grime off also and gave the stag a nice shine. Now it's time to put my own marks on it from carry and use....

That stag single blade is nice! If that was purchased from a dealer then I know that knife and actually handled it once at a show and was very impressed...it's an impeccably built knife! Was one I would have bought for myself if I had the money.

Better give this thread a bump.....new acquisition for me. First custom in stag and it's a knockout!

That's a beauty Jake! What are the dimensions? How bout a pic of the pile side?

Slide13, yes I did purchase it from a dealer/purveyor so it's got to be the same one...not many stag knives from Bret that I could find.

John, it measures 3-5/8" closed, a great pocketable size that I find is ideal for my normal carry. I don't have a spine shot but the stag measures just a touch over a 1/2" at its thickest spot. I find it nice to hold without feeling too thick as stag sometimes does.

Here's two other shots:

Thanks Jake, the pile side matches really well, nice texture too.

This beautiful gents is a recent acquisition (thanks chuko), love the mammoth on this specimen.

John: I wondered when you were going to post this beauty

- immediate apologies to the purists amongst us who cast aspersions upon this beautiful knife's validity to be here as to whether it slips into a traditional category ;)

I most highly admire Bret Dowell's work and this camp knife in des-ir and D2 is just magnificent - together with an equally beautiful sheath from L Parsons.

Great addition again Jake, those deep grooves really bring some character to your stag. As if a bear clawed them.

Bringing out one to carry this frosty day
