Brush Demon Hossom Outdoor Edge?!?!

Glad to see a whole bunch of collaborations from Jerry form different brands (I think you must be the first maker to cross this many brands!! Thats kudos!). I regret I never quite got around to pulling the trigger and ordering a custom fighting bowie...

Anyway, I do like this one... tough crowd around here.... if they made it in 3V in the USA and put the price at $350 from say Spyderco... the comments will be different for the SAME design!

Come to think of it... $1000 for a custom Hossom Kopis... actually sounds like good value considering what I spend on my other hobbies :)

I always thought your name was pronounced like Hawh-some....

Jerry,
Wasn't that your knife and misspelled name on the cover of Blade Mag about 12-15 years ago?
I do think we could use a literacy class for some of us makers and even the editors of most of our magazines and the like. LOL

Worst case was in my first collaboration with Cutter Knife & Tool. They spelled my name wrong on the blades. Hoffom.

It's always something... :)

I have had a positive experience with outdoor edge products and I kind of like this design even though I have no real need for it. Sure looks like fun.
Good work & good luck with it.

As long as the check clears... ;)

Rhymes with Possum, which is what earned me a lot of black eyes and bloody noses while I was growing up... :)

That sort of thing builds character. :D

Personally, I don't really give much of a hoot in heck about the logo and color scheme on this particular knife... I don't exactly love it, but... *shrug*. If that marketing approach sells more knives out of the gate, rock on. I am interested in how it performs... that's what's going to matter to the majority of potential buyers, and that's where the long money is. At the end of the day, most people just want a solid knife that works.

(Sorry if all that talk about money seems a bit crass, folks... but knifemakers have bills to pay and groceries to buy just like everyone else. )

Will do it might be a week or two because the other part of my order was a condor moonstalker which isn't in stock but usually ships within 1 to 2 weeks.

Warning: Outdoor Edge sells most of its products in stores, so the Demon comes packaged in a blister pack. I hate blister packs even on a good day, but this one is the mother of all blister packs and by the time you've dug the knife out of it you'll be in a foul temper and hate everything about it. Do this. Set the knife down, throw the blister pack in the trash - preferably at the bottom of the can where you will never see it again, relax for an hour or two, watch TV, maybe have a beer to calm your nerves, then see what you think about the knife... :)

Jerry,
We will someday drown in an ocean of Blisterpaks and other wasteful packaging that can't be reused.

One way for us to turn this to our advantage is for a knife maker to partner with a production company for a knife design for opening blisterpaks.
The problem there would be that how do you open that blisterpak? LOL

For someone who was wanting the custom Combat Kopis where would one start since I notice you no longer take orders? Do you have a dealer network?

Here's the problem: I'm old and lazy and make knives because I enjoy the craft and especially enjoy designing knives, mostly the latter so I don't actually make very many. I buy a sheet of steel, pick up my magic marker and sketch out things that interest me until there's no space left of that sheet of steel. Sometimes, one of those scribbles is a Combat Kopis or a variant thereof I might want to try. I just never know where that process will lead me. Over the following 3-4 months, those scribbles will get turned into knives or scrap and the process will start again. The only places I sell knives are at the Blade Show or on my Facebook business page, Jerry Hossom Knives. I also get some calls/emails from military folks whom I accommodate with whatever I have in the works that suits their needs. They always get first call. I've only made a half dozen of the Combat Kopis', all but one are in Afghanistan or home resting from having been there. I know that's a lousy answer for your interests, but when you get old and lazy like me you'll understand. :)

In the meantime, I just got in an actual photo of the Brush Demon, taken by Mitchell Cohen.

I noticed the handle logo said something about "Survival Series" is that a hint of more possible designs in the works ???

Unfortunate that some feel the need to be rude with their comments. Mr. Hossom is a MASTER craftsman, and I am confident that this design will work exactly as he intended. If it's not for you..., simply say so, and move along. The Outdoor Edge products that I have tried have all been excellent.

110% AGREED-And I know Choppers

Thanks for the reply.

I liked your facebook page so maybe luck will be on my side one day:D

So what kind of warranty does it have? Might get one and put it through hell. If it breaks I'd like to get replace or refund. :)
