Brush Demon Hossom Outdoor Edge?!?!

You'll need to ask Outdoor Edge about that. I think they come with a limited lifetime warranty, but I'll be honest with you. When someone tells me they plan to "put it through hell", I take that to mean it's not a test of how it performs but can they break it. Of course you can break it, you can break (or bend) any knife in any steel, but that's not what the knife was designed for. It was designed, as the name implies, to cut brush and serve as a field knife for life in the wild. Use it for that and I think you'll be pleased with how it performs.

The prototype felt great, not as lively as your custom of course, and I am looking forward to the real thing!

I would not intend to break the knife, that would be counter productive .I would use it on wood,it would probably get battoned a few times. Since chinese knives always seem to have poor heat treat I'd be mainly watching for how quickly it required sharpening, how good an edge could be put on it;and for edge chipping or rolling. I'd call that a fair assessment process for any knife. Since it supposed to be used to clear brush,it would be subject to repeating impacts ,via chopping into wood.

british proof test
polymer drum stabbing
batonning
pell
whittling
chopping

would probably be all uses I would subject mine too. :)

Unfortunately, Kydex was not an option due to the cost that would have almost doubled the price of the knife. I asked, and it's just stupidly expensive in China. Sorry.

Not a problem. There are many sheath makers out there if I want it in the future. Beautiful knife by the way. Just ordered mine.

Jerry, I just got a Brush Demon in today. Haven't done anything with it work wise yet but initially, It feels pretty good. The handle is large so it will fit most anyone's hand even with gloves. The palm swells give me a good grip and I can choke up or back to change how it feels in my hand if I want. The blade shape reminds me of the straighter styled kukris. A lot of sweet spot but still a lot of piercing capabilities. The edge geometry looks good to my eyes. Not brutish, but not too thin either. I think the sheath is more than capable but it is a price point design. Of course, like you said earlier, a different sheath would double the cost. I think it is a good compromise. Hopefully I can get out and give it a wring out soon. Sure feels like one of those blades you pick up and just want to start chopping with :D

Got mine in this week also, I'll put it to use soon. Outdoor edge did a good job in this one aesthetically and ergonomically. I'm confident it'll be a good performer, especially at the price point. Good job Jerry, and outdoor edge.

Thanks for the pics - I'm definitely picking one up on my next USA trip.

Not so thrilled about the logo on the handle... Not a biggie but is it removable by any chance of moulded in?

I understand your concerns about the logo, but it is flush with the handle and if you're right handed it's on the finger side so not really noticeable. You can probably pop it out since it's glued in, but I think you'll end up with something that feels worse.

I'll be getting one soon I'm always looking for new toys to clean brush around here. I can't wait to see what is around the corner with this new series.

I wish it were, Mattin, but I don't think anyone wants to make it. Too difficult to do in a production piece. Thanks for liking it, and it did appear in Blade Magazine this month.
