Jerry I like this blade and am thinking of removing the scull crusher pommel so I can neck back and chop like with my parang and Philippe bolos. let me know please, if there is a purpose I am missing.
TIA!

be safe...
Ted

Ted, the drop at the rear to retain your hand while chopping is certainly functional, as it is with Filipino blades. Not so the point behind it, but I'm not sure how removing the point will allow you a secure grip further back than it is. Maybe you could post, message or email me a sketch of what you have in mind.

There are no sharp/hard corners on the tang which is good. And it looks as through a person could fashion their own handle if need be. Good stuff!

Scottman, thanks for all your photos. Your point on the choil size was noted and I'll see if we can enlarge that in the future.

Great pictures, thanks. The more I see the more I like.
I would be in for a pass around.

If someone wants to organize a pass around and gather a few people for it, I'll contribute the knife. I'll also volunteer to resharpen it a time or two during its travels.

It seems to be a nice piece. I'd take the offer up on a passaround if I didn't already have some. It's well worth a try IMHO

Glad to see this getting a workout.

On a side note, anyone know a source for this kind of handle fastener? I've been looking and not turning up anything satisfactory.

If someone with more pass around experience does not step up I would organize one. Thank you for the generous offer.

I hate choppers, I am completely dedicated to axes but this design looks so bad ass and functional that I am feeling my wallet opening already. Might be my noob brain in function here but the tip looks like you could use it as a chisel which is so unique and interesting that I would buy it just for that feature. I also agree that having a sharpened tip is not detrimental to the design and that weapon is a very valid use for a large knife. All in all I believe it is a good design and a credit to a man that has already proved his worth to our knife-loving community. All the best wishes with this blade,
James.

Just let me know who to send the pass around to and when.

Thanks for the comments, James. On the chisel idea I honestly don't think that would work well given its convex edge, shaped for chopping. However, it would be possible to resharpen the forward edge to one side making it function as a chisel, just not as received. On your chopper point, I well understand your position, but there's chopping and then there's CHOPPING. I would not recommend this for chopping something like a log, but for brush and saplings where an ax might be overkill, it works fine and is lighter to haul around. That is where this knife is intended to be used, chopping not CHOPPING. :)

Right, convex edge, didn't notice that  I like the idea of the right tool for the job and I do have some small trees that are suckering up over my property so the thin ones might just meet a grizzly end ...:D

Does the passaround need to start in the pass section of can we start here ? I live in Columbus GA and can start if you guys want

Hossom Brush Demon dispatched several animals today and butchered them for the freezer. I had it on my hip all day again today too
