??Buck 110 Release Tomorrow (01/10/2022)??

Something really new by Buck doesn't happen every week and this IS new. But my main motivation to buy it was using a 286 for a few weeks. I have a lot of 112's and other models and for sure have enough knives but I found I really liked the slightly longer handle. I have never really gave any of my super steel 112's a lot of use except for a 112 Slim Pro Plus in S35VN and I gave that one to Armand for Christmas. So basically this new Magnacut will be a experiment with the latest super steel (lots of folks say it's fantastic) plus really giving a 110 a shot. I like the 111 I have but it's Elk finger grooved with a mirror polished blade. Plus the simple fact it is already a collectable Buck and I like having and using something special. If I really really like it and can resharpen it easily I will ask Kyson to make it bareheaded with a rear swell with some nice horn or wood. I hope Buck makes a 112 with it of course especially a drop point but I don't see that happening anytime soon. S35VN was the best I have ever used and for less than $150.00 I plan to see if Magnacut really is super.

the flippers are irritating...I bought two in case someone here missed out and wanted one. worked out.

I expect we'll see more magnacut offerings in different models and even the 110 again..... if it pans out well. it sold fast, so that was good for Buck. now to see how feedback is on the heat treat, etc.

While I'm waiting on my new Magnacut, anyone have suggestions for a thumb stud?

I'm familiar with the Kwik studs and bars, but I swear I've seen photos here of different products that attach in the same way.

The actual Rockwell averaged 61-62. We choose the lower Rockwell on this project due to the toughness loss at the higher hardness. For our product customers, it makes more sense. The tip breaking on the 110s is one of our top returns and we know people pry with our blades (gasp! lol), so we wanted the toughness. Plus it is easier to re-sharpen etc.
We have just adopted a new sharpening method that has raised our CATRA scores significantly for initial sharpness/total life, so edge life should still be there at the lower Hardness.

Hope this helps.

Got one on the way. Used Visa with no problem.

No love for Paypal; they refused an ammunition purchase (only once, I didn't give them a chance to do it twice). They don't get to pass judgement on what I buy or who I buy it from. God forgives; I ain't God.

I'm apprehensive about the Buck MC heat treatment. I have a Ritter RSK in MC and from what I read, the Hogue HT is a couple points harder, so it'll be interesting to see if there are any discernible differences.

To be honest, I can't tell much difference between MC and Cruwear, so while I understand the fascination with this new playpretty alloy, I doubt it will change much of anything in a substantive way. I have a couple knives in the really hard stuff like S90V, CPM-M4 at about 65 HRC, and M390. The MC does not hold an edge like any of these, but it's close enough so no hard feelings or regrets. Thing is, I can actually sharpen it without it being a major production. With a folding diamond sharpener, touchups are quick and easy. No fun in needing to finish something while trying to restore an edge on S90V or M390 if it was important to be done right away.

FWIW, YMMV, I could be wrong, etc.

I snoozed, I losed.
Lol, I feel you. I snost and I lost as well. Ah well, I was looking forward to cleaning deer and pronghorn with it, but then I keep coming back to my 50th anniversary Buck 110 for that chore anyway. Maybe they'll do a run of 112s and I can pick up one of those, not like I NEED another knife, but, why not right?

Buck said on Instagram that their teaser video may have a hint as to what the next stealth release is going to be. :)

So maybe a 112? Still no idea what hint they left

wonder if the January botm will be magnacut. guess it'd be more practical to get the 110s out and see how their HT does before pumping out more new steel blades.

I wouldn't be surprised based on this comment from their Instagram. I'm betting for a 110 with magnacut blade and jigged micarta handles (to test out jigging the micarta for the barehead 110 supposedly coming this year)
