Buck 110 weight, Reality Check

They ought to make a 560 with screwed construction and pivot, pocket clip.

After 30+ years of daily carry, most on my belt some in my back pocket. I can say this the weight never bothered me once. If anything, the heft was comforting.

Don't underestimate the striking force you can generate with the butt of a 110 in an emergency.

When I have to be a little covert, I carry it in my back pocket. Sometimes with, sometimes without the sheath.

By accident,
I found if you put it in your pocket in the sheath and sit on it all day it gets the leather back into shape, and molded around the knife. So now I do it on purpose when the sheath starts to get weird.

I like the weight of a 110. I've used a 110 or Schrade 7OT/6OT/LB7 (before I got the 110) as an EDC, along with a 4 blade scout knife (or SAK Huntsman), a Stockman, and a canoe or Barlow in my pocket for several decades now.
When someone says the Buck 110 is "to heavy to use or carry", it is hard not to suggest they get a gym membership ... and use it ...

I do like the weight of a 110 and the weight of my government 1911! Great combo.

Makes me happy to see people loving their 7.2 oz Bucks.

The weight of the 110 is perfect. I feel like the heft cradles in the palm of my hand naturally and makes it more of an extension of my arm. Well engineered pistols feel the same way.

By the way that first picture of the 110 posted, is that a custom? I own a few with finger grooves and that has got to be one of the smoothest and shiniest scales I've seen on one.

I don't recall but will get it out and look at it closer. I picked out the photos randomly..

I really don't get the weight complaining either. Carrying fully loaded backpack in the woods, that's heavy.
I would not carry Buck 110 in the pocket, but on belt sheath I really don't get how it would be "heavy"..

When I am doing up a deer in the field, I like the feel of the 110 and knowing where it is in my hand.

Weight isn't all that noticeable when working one

I've seen a similar phenomenon in backpacking and outdoors forums. Some people obsess about having the lightest gear they can find, and they usually pay a premium for it.

I'm usually willing to hump a little extra weight if it means taking gear I can count on and/or saving some money.

Personally, I like my 110s and the weight doesn't usually bother me. I have one of the lightweight aluminum 110s and if I'm going to pocket carry or the weight is a problem for some reason I'll carry that, but usually the weight of a normal 110 is no issue. Most of the time I prefer the heavier 110 as the weight in a crossdraw sheath provides a nice counterbalance to the weight of my pistol on the opposite side.

Many years ago when I hit puberty I learned to live with a little extra weight in my pants. Maybe the people complaining about the weight of pocket knives didn't have the same experience.

The weight of the 110 is absolutely meaningless to me. It's a fantastic, time-tested design. Admittedly, I have a 110 that doesn't get any carry time but ONLY because I've become addicted to pocket clips. As soon as a Lochasa appears in the exchange at slightly less than retail, I'm going to snap it up.

Having said that, I'd buy a lightweight 110 (with a clip) too.

There is so much I love about the 110. My first "real" knife. The shape of the handle is wonderful. It's beautiful. And it's so well balanced in the hand.

The superior balance in the hand of the 110 was the first thing that jumped out to me when I got a barehead Schrade 6OT. The front brass bolster has no counter-balance.

But on the other hand, the Ecolite I used to own and my Case Large Sodbuster are both well balanced too... and what? Half the weight?

I don't holster carry. Rear pocket. Weight matters. Not a huge deal. But it's a noticeable deal. It's the primary reason my 110 isn't my most commonly carried knife. Lighter ones get the nod most often, even though I like the 110 more.

I'm super interested to try the aluminum bolstered ones. I would spring for another Ecolite if they made them prettier - the originals weren't very wow but could have been.

I try to compensate for the extra weight with a strict regiments of squat thrusts, pull ups, chiropractic visits, and fornication to strengthen my legs, core, and fortitude. So far I'm surviving.

I will admit the new aluminum I got is mighty sweet.

How is the balance of the knife in your hand? Similar to the classic, only lighter, or is the feel entirely different?

BTW, did you get the black G10 or Ebony and how does it look. Sorry for the drift
