BUCK 110's for $23.00

Academy Sports just undercut Wally World. $21.50 or so for the Buck 110 with leather sheath!!! Dang, I paid $27.64 just two weeks ago! Bummer!

I've bought a couple of the $23.44 Buck 110 Commemorative tin sets, and I was hoping that maybe there'd be enough around to buy after Christmas was over, perhaps at a further discounted price. I was able to get a couple of last year's Buck model 728s for less than half of their original $25 price, $11 apiece, after Christmas.

Then I read matt321's post that his local Wal*Mart(s?) had sold out of the 110 tins! I was bumming because I was hoping that "extras" would still be around in a few weeks, after Christmas was over....

Tonight, I checked out two Wal*Marts near me, one was a regular store and one a SuperCenter. Both stores have about two or three dozen $23.44 Buck 110 tins, stacked/stocked on the shelves. The Buck display, where I'd found my first 110 tin, had been replaced with a display of Buck hats. Good marketing, that way...but, I had to ask the Sporting Goods "associate" where the Buck 110 tins had skedaddled away to.

I guess that either there are more Wal*Marts in my area, or fewer people around here who appreciate fine knives, or otherwise the Buck 110 tins would be all sold-out here, too.

I'd holler for the Sporting Goods associate, matt321, and ask where he/she hid those 110 tins! ;) Usually, around here, there's not an associate around when you need one, so I'll stop by the Customer Service desk and have them page the person with the Sporting Good keys, to tell them that someone's coming back. It may sound lazy, but it's better than walking all the way back to the Customer Service counter, just to make a page for an AWOL associate!

Sporting Goods always seems to be about a mile away from the Customer Service desk at Wal*Mart....

I wish there were Academy Sport stores in Ohio! $21 beats $23, and it includes the leather sheath!

We don't have Academy Sports in Oregon either. Too bad! Oh well, I was back at Wally World today (Christmas shopping for my wife) and couldn't pass up such a good deal, I bought a couple more. I have two nephews in the Navy, I am sure they would like a good American made knife! Christmas is almost here. :D

Oooh, there's an Academy not too far from me. I smell a 110 being sent in for a BG-42 blade exchange.

How long is that sale price going to last?

What are you planning to use your Buck 110 Commemorative tin for, after removing your knife and sheath...?

I've found that my Browning Hi-Power fits inside, perfectly, along with about three extra magazines....

I used to keep about 15 gent's knives in a heap on top my dresser. I now use the tin for my gent's knives.

Scott, thanks for the post. Yours was the first one that caught my eye about this sale. I picked up a $21.43 Academy 110 tonight. Will probably use it a while with the 420HC, and then it's going to Buck for a BG-42 blade change.

I'm always amazed at the quality of knife that Buck puts out at this price. Even at Academy's normal price, $27 and change, a Buck 110 is an absolute steal.

Guyon,

I will probably go get several for presents. At that price, they get a quality present!!! Glad you were able to use the info!

First, ALL of their blister-packed 110's are on sale. They have a special display showing the $21 price, but it's the same UPC.

Second, even if they run out just take the Academy ad to Walmart and they will match the price. I bought one at Academy (for a gift) so it would have the leather sheath that 99% of the world likes. Then I bought one from Walmart for me because I prefer the non-corrosive and sleeker nylon (or whatever it is) sheath. They matched the price on their regular stock with the "good" nylon sheath, not the gift box with the cheaper one.

Normally I don't care much about a few dollars, nor would I bother asking for price matches for such a small amount, but with this recent craze I would feel like a sucker if I missed my lifetime chance to get a Buck 110 for $21, and exactly how I wanted it.

Guys, I hit two Academys today. One was totally out and they gave me a raincheck for the $21 price. So if you find any of them out, ask for a rain check and the guys in sporting goods should fill it out and give you a call.

The other Academy had 10. Now they have 4 :D :D

Sure don't need this raincheck now.

Good tip on the Wal-Mart price match Carl. Kind of wish I'd thought of it since I like the nylon sheath a bit better. Still, I did manage to get a 110 at Academy that has nice even grain on both scales, so I'm pretty happy with my buy. It's always a bit of a gamble with those blister packs.

I might be going to Wal-Mart with my Academy sale flyer this weekend though...

I have done 2 price matches at Walmart now, which I previously didn't know or had forgotten existed. Both times were no-hassle, unlike other stores where I have never successfully gotten a match. No calling around to check stock or examining bar codes in detail to look for excuses. You might have to wait for a supervisor to do an override or something.

I don't expect all stores to match prices due to huge differences in costs of all sorts, but if you SAY you match prices, you ought to actually do it.

I hit my local Wal-Mart today, Marion, Il., and they had about 3 dozen of these $23.44 110's.

Of course I had to buy at least 1!

Say LC, Does this look familiar :D :D

Just keep telling yourself,

I am NOT an addict!

You guyz are killing me...I was at the local hardware store getting some steel rod, and saw a piece of .060" 2"x12" brass sheet...I thought, well, if the local WallyWorld has Bucks on sale, I'll pick up a pair for a home-made "transition" knife...

They weren't on sale [no Academy Sports in my state]...but they did have those candy-tin 110's for $23.99...so I got a pair... :p

CJ is going to have to put on a second shift if this keeps up... :D

If you really do build it, do it soon and show us lots of pics!

My workshop is full of half-finished projects...they all require expensive tools to finish... :(

...But a Colt Gov't model does not... :(

Well...I've been debating about it. Seeing a downright purty Buck 110 commemorative tin sitting around won't stop a burglar from grabbing it, y'know? ;)
