Buck "Spa" Experiences - Good or Bad?

I received a micarta 119 that doesn't have a smooth transition from the handle to the pomnel. Would this be covered under warranty, or is it a spa repair job?

Depends what you're having done and how many people are ahead of you and time of year. With all that said, my experience has been roughly 2-3 weeks, more toward the 2 weeks, including shipping time...

We are currently running at 3.5 week turn internally. That does not include ship time to us or ship time back. This is our busiest time of year so please bear with us.

Jeff

Sure Jeff. I just wondered what the average time was. First time I've sent one in for spa treatment. I have other slip joints I can use while it's gone.

Bought a 112 with a broken blade and the nickel bolsters so corroded you could not tell if they were nickel or brass. For $5. Sent it to Buck for repair and it came back nicely shining silver, the wooden scales were smooth. Obviously they replaced the blade. But it looks like new.

The service is second to none. I bought a 112 on the bay that was in real bad shape. A trip to the spa and a reblade made a difference.

I've got a buddy that I just ran into at our club's annual gun show. He had a very well worn Buck 110 that he'd bought back when he was in high school, I'm guessing late 60's or so. He was going to bring it to some guys that do a great job at sharpening that set up at the show. I convinced him to send it in for the Spa treatment, which he'd never heard of. Can't wait till I see the knife and his face when he gets it back. Nice knife: 3 pins in the bolsters AND the blade had a drop point. I'm thinking he had a rare bird, no? I know he'll be thrilled.

Just got my 2dot 112 back. It is 99% brand new. Wish i could post pictures here but after many attenpts i do have a before and finally one after picture up on the BCCI site.
Thank you Buck I’m a believer!!

I did not know about the SPA treatment.

I have an old 106 axe, 119 and a couple 110's. I got to round them up and send them in.
I'll do before and after shots and post it later.

Question ... do I send it in with or without the sheaths?

Without sheaths is fine.

I just mailed off 9 knives for the SPA service. Some needed more attention than others. I'm very hopeful that they come back looking great and sharp as a razor. A 704 had the blade that was way off center, I'm hoping that this can be corrected. One knife, a 701, had an area on one of the bolsters that was a tiny bit proud of the scales, making for a sharp edge when handling the knife. I tried to be as descriptive as possible on the warranty form. Hopefully the trained folks at Buck will do whatever they need to in order to bring these knives back to their former glory.

I'll post the results when I get the knives back. I wish I took before pics.:(

I've alerted my group to watch for these. We should be able to fix up those 700s..

Wow! Thank you so very much. They should arrive by Saturday, 3/10/2018. They'll be there when the crew arrives on Monday morning. I sent the following knives in: (3) 503; (3) 703; (1) 501; (1) 704; (1) 701). I can't wait to see the results. Thanks again.

Sounds good. We are shutting down for a remodel next week, so It may take a little longer than normal to get back to you. We will be back up and running the 19th..
re-doing things to serve you all better.

Sounds good Jeff. All but one of the knives I sent in belonged to my late father, so let the Buck crew know I appreciate their efforts in giving his knives the full Buck SPA treatment.

Cheers!

Jeff,

I checked the tracking info and it looks like the post office tried to deliver on Sat. I assume that even with the shut down for remodeling, you'll be getting mail on Monday, 3/12/2018, right? I'll be nervous until I can confirm that my (dad's) knives made it safely to Buck.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yep, it will get here today. It will be in one of the bags in my office.. My office looks like a mail room. lol.. PM me the name on the package, and I'll see if I can get eyeballs on it.
