Buck "Spa" Experiences - Good or Bad?

Earlier this year I sent in an old 701 and they did a fantastic job on it. I just got back today an old 3 dot 110 that was very rough. It does not look new in places where there the biggest nicks were but I am sure they did the best they could. They also replaced the spring. I am very happy with the results!!! Great job Buck!!!
As an FYI, we don't chase and remove nicks and dents, just buff and polish. Feedback over the years is that most people think those are badges of honor and get really mad when we remove them. We can remove most things although there is a limit due to removing material when we have to sand. If you want us to remove the nicks and dings, just let us know when you send it in.
If you want them removed on the knife you just got back, just let me know.

Jeff Thanks for the info, and thanks for the offer, but I did not expect the knife to look brand new and am very happy with the results, Buck did an outstanding job, exceeding my expectations, again!!!!!

I've got another batch of 8 knives coming your way, J J Hubbard ! Half just need the typical SPA treatment, and the others need a little bit of work to get them back to Buck's high standards. They'll be in the mail in about 5 hours from now.

Will Buck let me know if I owe them more money for my warranty work?
I am afraid I may have underestimated what my total bill will be.
I did not factor in the spa treatment when I wrote the check for the 2 blade replacements.
I do not want to short change a company that is doing so much work, for such a small charge.
Thank you.

That was my initial concern. J Hubbard popped on a few posts back and said Buck will contact you if they need anything further.

This is what pushes Buck Knives to the top of the market. And of all the many many knives I have and have held, there are none that even come close to the feeling of a Buck 110 and 112. I have never used the spa treatment but am truly glad it is offered. Thank you for making the Legendary Knives that mean so much to so many.

Shark - We will take care of them

Don - The $10 blade replacement includes a SPA treatment so you probably sent enough.

Jeff

Excellent. They arrived on Monday. Can't wait to get them back. Today, I'm carrying my 704 that you guys worked your magic on a few weeks ago.

Sorry to bother you, Mr. Hubbard, but I have a couple questions.
If I send in my 2 dot 110 for a blade replacement, will the replacement blade have the 2 dot tang stamp, or the tang stamp for whatever year the blade was made?
I doubt the replacement blade would be 440C, as the original is.
For historical purposes, does Buck mark the knife in the blade well, or elsewhere to show Buck replaced the blade and when?

Again, I'm sorry to bother you. I know you're busy.

I had a 2 dot rebladed and Buck used a current blade on it. I sent in a Camillus made 301 many years ago and they put a Camillus blade back on it. I guess it depends on the materials they have at the time. Just got 4 back from the spa that I am pleased with Great service at a good price.

They will replace the 110 blade with a current blade of the same material 99% of the time. If you send a 440c or 425m 110 in, it will come back with a new 420hc blade.

That being said, after cleaning up the warranty inventory, they might have found some oldies.

No matter how much you beg, they will not upgrade your old blade to something like S30V. I tried and even offered to pay way too much for it...lol

I figured out what I should do, buy another Buck!
But, this time I ordered right from Buck. 110 Pro, very excited!
Thank you guys again, for all you do and what you stand for.

Don

Since people asked about nicks and gouges I inspected my nickel silver 112. It was bought with a broken tip and really corroded bolsters at a flea market, then immediately sent to Buck for a reblade/SPA. The bolsters are mirror shiny but if you look closely you can see small ripples where the bolsters were polished without removing every divot. I'm totally OK with this. They look new except under very close examination. If it was a sentimental knife I would want those reminders. It isn't but I'm still very happy.

Photos tell the story.

We are out of all those old blades, so it would be this years blade with this years markings. We do not do any marking to show that it was repaired. Never a bother to take care of you guys.

Howdy All;

Well, dropped my old 315 in the mail this morning, track sez it should arrive in Idaho Wed or Thurs.
Looking forward to getting it back to see what they did to it.
