Bushcraft Knife challenge - Interest?

that big dog quote ends in "stay under the porch"
If you can't run with the big dogs,
Stay on the porch!

Those who didn't get done on time should be left behind - slackers!

Um, er, wait a minute.... my knife isn't there yet:o
Maybe start testing and accept the other as they roll in:D

Just curious if a definitive answer has been reached about extending the deadline for us slackers. Glued mine up again today, so I haven't lost all hope.

Mine will be done tomorrow for sure (Fri), the sheath.... well... it may be sub-par... but the knife will be done and shipping out. Late or not, I'm sending it out.

I just got my blade back from heat-treat. Took a lot longer than usual for some reason. I can be finished some time next week. Count me amongst the *slackers*. I've been busy, of course....and had to wait until I had a large batch of the same steel to send out for heat-treat.

I now have it laid out ready for glue-up. Might be able to sneak it in this weekend.

If I have to skip out on the challenge, that's fine with me. Just would like to know before I glue 'er up. :D

Just send em in as they're ready gents. If any arrives as late as Dec 24, I'll take it as a birthday present. :D

Mailman rolled his eyes at me today. :)

Man, I guess I should return his knife back to him eh????

----Nah I don't have it.....Hell, I even still have his W&SS shirts that he needs to get from. I think Rick must be gett'n some or something. He's been so quite <--- not like him by any stretch!

Rick's knife is in. He gave it to me yesterday at the NYCKS.

And he is even uglier in person...

YOu guys are BAD!
SOOoooo..when does this adventure begin Tony? Because of all the slackers, are you going to begin testing or wait? And, how was the knife show?
OH, any chance of some group shots...that would be sweet!!!!!

There is no way... is that even possible?

I didn't think so either. Luckily after we had dinner we went to a bar that was very poorly lit. Could you imagine having to look at Rick's and Riley's ugly mug in good lighting..:barf:

I am thinking the Wednesday and Thursday after Thanksgiving Gene. We will test as we go. When we are done with a knife we will ship them back to each maker.

The show was good. I did my best to not look at any knives while there since I am broke.:o I did get to meet some really interesting makers with allot of talent, with the exception of Rick of course;)

Missed you Tony. I was there today with Mike and Ed. Talked with Rick for quite awhile.

My knife should be there soon. I mailed it via Canada Post on Nov 12th. Once the sled dogs make it to the US border and it's in the hands of USPS it should get there pretty quickly.

Ok Guys, here it is. Finally finished, my wife is in town now shipping it to Marcelo. Here are a few pics I hope. You can see more of my knives at www.flickr.com/bigdknives

So you did the horse mat over g10 like you said you wanted to try... how does it feel now?
And was it a PITA to glue up?

Im done. 3/16 stock O-1. 4.5" blade with homemade micarta handles, kydex sheath, and red liners. This is my fourth knife that I have completed. I cant wait to have it reviewed and get some feedback on finish, edge geometry, and other things. I will be mailing it off in the next few days.

OK, i don't know about the steel, HT and all that, but DUDE!!! save this blade design and handle combination!!! Right now i don't have the $$$, but i'd definitely be interested in one of these babies! To me, it really looks like a great blade length/width and handle ergonomics.

Sign me up!!!

The last couple of blades posted look really good, from people I didn't know of before this. Definitely glad this is being done. More makers are showing up can only lead to positive things to come
