Bushcraft UK - 2nds "heads-up"

I was going to suggest we start a "Show us your cracks" thread but then I realized it would just end up in that W&C topic with the innocent threads with dirty titles.

On topic mine also arrives tomorrow and I can't wait to check it out.

Been watching for the big brown truck to come down my dirt road today and sure enough my new bushcraft arrived. I rushed to open the box hoping not to see more cracks in the handle than in Joan Rivers face I was pleasantly suprised to find only one crack on one slab and was glad to see it was not located around any hardware. The crack is hard to see, but can be felt. There is really not a void to fill. These handles are matched up well appearance wise and fill your hand nicely. This knife has a good heft to it and balance. The sheath is of good quality for a production knife. It holds the knife in place solidly and has a plastic insert in the tip area. The picture I took did not show the crack thats why there is no pic. Thanks Sal for a great knife.

I lost control and ordered a 2nd one. I hope you're stronger than me.

Tomorrow's my day. I won't be able to unpack it until I get home from work, around midnight. So, I'll keep some patience and do it Friday. I am starting to fiend for it... I'll let you know how it goes with the strength after I get her all cleaned up and give the once or twice over. I'll try and take some pics too and figure out how to post them.

Mine still hasn't cracked yet. The grip has actually swelled back up here in NC. So far I haven't done anything to it. It took a good two months before I really noticed it. The heat has been on in my house a lot this year due to the cold, so the house is actually dryer than normal.

The fit on this knife is pretty darn good. The grinds are excellent. It's a real keeper.

Hmmm, I was going to suggest sending it back to Spyderco for installation of cracks under warranty, but these don't have a warranty, so I guess you're stuck with your no-cracks scales. Sorry!!! ;) :D

rockspyder, I think they picked out a perfect one for you with no cracks, but then they had the shipping mix-up and sent it to ME, instead. UPS should be bringing mine today. ha ha.

I'm like WTH, who is this bastid?!
Then I realized which bastid it was. Ya bastid.
Can't say you didn't tell me so, but I bet even you didn't realize it would be this bad.

I'm just wondering which day they got it out the door.... if they have yet.

Has it come in yet?

bastid!

Got mine yesterday with book matched scales and 6 cracks. Thanks for the info. on super glue, worked great! Sanded with some fine wet dry paper and coated with tung oil. You can't tell it was a second. Thank you Sal for this wonderful deal. Putting a hot sauce patina on the blade now, should be a great user.

the brown truck came before lunch today.

Sorry for the bad pics; my camera hates the flourescent lights at work.

Looks about like the others posted here. I'll superglue the cracks tonight and it'll be good-to-go. This thing is absolutely SCARY sharp, BTW.

woodsyone, tell me more about the hot sauce patina. I've done vinegar but not hot sauce.

rockspyder, I knew you'd figure it out. You may be a "yankee" now, but you've still got southern boy smarts. yea, your AR may get to you before your bushie. Hopefully no more shipping problems

Can't wait to get home to see the pics.

At least I got that screw I was talking about with the rear sight. No more flat-head.

I got mine today as well. One is alot more cracked than the other. But regardless this is a beautiful knife. I would estimate the sheath worth at least 50. Even if you have someone rehandle this is still an excellent tool steel knife.

They are still available and you are crazy not to order a couple.

sadistic bastids

:p

In truth, thanks for the pics. Those are some nice looking knives. I almost wish I hadn't ordered an Enzo just a few days before this. Since it is practically an identical shape/thickness blade, no need for two of these fine lookin' Spydies.

Got mine tonight and I'm very pleased. Several cracks on both sides but nothing at the pins. We have electric and wood heat so the house is fairly dry. I'll give it a few days, perhaps put it in the glovebox of the pickup and see how it reacts to some humidity before I super glue anything. Pictures this weekend. Thank you Sal!

Received my today. I am comtemplating waiting on filling the cracks as I live in the deep south and the humidity tends to be higher than most placed. I am waiting to see....

Except for the cracked wood, this is a very nice knife. Has a very natural feel in the hand and is nicely balanced.

Here is the ugly pic of the cracks...

Overall I think it was a very good deal for the price. I'll work with it this weekend and hopefully the outside time will moisturize the wood some....

Give it a good amount of time too ;)
