Not anymore. (Actually, I'm not sure if they ever did. But I do know that they don't do it currently.)

pray tell, how do you know this? And, thus, explain the extreme flexibility? very interested in this.

I seem to recall Jeff stating at some point that they don't do a differential heat treatment. However, their heat treatment method is proprietary so they don't release details of the process nor photos of their heat treating equipment.

I am even more impressed now. That one video of that junglas being bent almost 90 degrees before breaking is pretty incredible if that is not a differential HT.

Rowans heat treat is simply amazing, 1095 is a decent steel to begin with but this fellow brings it into another realm.

Just checking in.

Speaking of Rowan, did you guys see where the ESEE Junglas is disco'd and now it is the RTAK II B?
How did that happen and how does that affect Ontario's use of the name?

Yes, definitely Porsche, not Hummer.

That picture of the Becker!

And the other one!

Did we ever get the "pinch grip" sorted? :p

The Junglas is not discontinued, Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop has stopped selling the Junglas and is trying to substitute the RTAK II B.

oh, ok.

No wonder they say it's better!

i went through the decision process about 2 years ago,
ended up with the Junglas.

I am sure the new RTAK from Ontario using 5160 steel is much better than the old RTAK, but I would still go with the junglas based solely on HT.

1095 is a spring steel so that shouldn't be too hard to figure out and also the reason for the lower RC numbers...

Not all that secret, special or proprietary...

More like snake oil really......

Take a slab of 1095 and go with one of the spring tempers that get the RC numbers in the 55 HRC range..... WOW that's sooooo special....... Hardly......

The same can be done with ANY of the spring steels.

snake oil, usually denotes lying to make sales. Is that what you mean?

Back on Busse, I accumulated a half dozen or so Busse and Bussekins but ended up selling most of them. I couldn't bring myself to use a $450 knife. The whole point of owning INFI is it's toughness and durability but if you leave it home sitting in a safe then what's the point? It's a theoretical advantage only. For those that can and do use them, more power to 'em but I can't justify the outlay. I still have my CABS because it was bought second hand, but I find I still return to Fallknivens or my Aurora if I want to use a FB.

I have used my Warden as my prep knife for 3 years and never had to resharpen it. Using a smooth steel brings the edge right back. That's not hype.

Fallknivens ? some retails $800+ (Thor) so u must be doing good :)

He's probably not talking about those, lol. Seriously, at the pricepoint of INFI, I would not consider anything other than a Custom from a custom maker as competition to INFI.
