Busse vs Spartan Blades vs Esee

The Busse was hammered into a blacktop driveway. Any knife is capable of being driven into that soft of a driveway material shy of a fillet knife. All the knives mentioned here could do the same exact thing with the same exact results.

An analogy: Usain Bolt can run a sub-5 40 yard dash. In fact, estimates place him at 4.2 seconds. Place him on turf, and he'll lose time, but he will still break under 5. Would you put him in a football game? Nope. Why? Because he would be shattered into a lump of quivering flesh when the first 270 pound lineman gets ahold of him, as that lineman can ALSO run a 4.7 in the 40.

Busse makes lineman.

So, if you think your knives can be hammered into my driveway and come out fine, I've got plenty of driveway for you to try it on. I will gladly smash my TGLB into the driveway, the bricks lining it, or the rocks in the creek. I KNOW it can handle it. I'm willing to put any 1095 production knife edge-to-edge with my Busse to see which knife gets cut in half first.

Bark river- beautiful knives, over heated edge and warranty? They'll regrind your knife if it chips then you'll have a custom steak knife.

ESEE- clean designs, over hyped and a cheap beater knife with an outstanding warranty.

Busse combat- awesome, thumbs up, great warranty but most owners are just safe queens (like me) that's why I get 2 knives for each model. Also has the same warranty esee. The only thing is if you break your knife that's not in production anymore, they'll replace it with a comparable model or give you a store credit because they won't make that knife just for you which is the only real down side.

Spartan blades- S35VN knives are not for ABUSE.

I was wondering the same about asphalt, as it can be quite soft between the gravel. Now, hammered into river rocks? That's what I want to see!

No he didn't...... ;)

If it breaks from just using it like a knife then yes it's the same but

If you modify a Busse and the modification is what caused the break then that part of the knife is not covered under warranty.

If I modified an ESEE the same way and it broke I would get a brand new knife :-)

Actually he did :-)

I seriously doubt it...... Because it wouldn't technically be their knife anymore so they don't have to warranty it...

Very well usually.

I haven't seen an SR101 or infi with a comparable grind like the 2nd production run of the GSO 10. I know for a fact that busse's thick grind is the reason why it rare that you see busse with a big chip or roll.

I'm afraid that you heard wrong.

True, but even Busse's website stating their warranty covers "any and all unintentional major damage" cannot convince the fans boys otherwise.

I just went through this with Ankerson in the SURVIVE! thread, to the point that I quit posting about it because the thread wasn't about ESEE or Busse (unlike this one).

ESEE has and will replace your knife if you destroy it on purpose. Sure, Jeff might call you an idiot, but I don't think there are many here who would argue otherwise. Or, maybe he's the idiot for replacing it, and you're the douchebag for doing it on purpose? Either way, this is simply not true for Busse, no matter how cool or beautiful their crew is.

And if any Busse owners still want to argue about their warranty, cut your knife in half, send it back, and let's see what happens.

I have tested Busse's with thinner grinds or comparable grinds and they do very well...

That's sounds more like a sales pitch. No way that is absolute fact. My Schrade SCHF1 will do just as good as a Busse for a whole lot less money. :)

Congratulations, you have just earned the "most idiotic statement on Bladeforums" award. Never in your life say something like that again. Schrade and Busse do not even belong in the same sentence (with the exception of this one, of course).

If you can't afford a Busse that's okay. However it is not okay when you go around making stupid assumptions like that. Your Shcrade would snap in half before a Busse gets a micro chip on its edge. You are comparing a piece of crap to a Busse, get real.

WHAT?

I don't even know if you're being serious or just trying to troll.

I've been looking for a reason to hammer my TGLB into the driveway, so now is as a good a time as any.

Hard core! F*cking hard core man!!!! That's freakin' sweet. No tip damage!

To the OP - I'd definitely recommend a Busse. I have sworn by them for about 15 years. They are worth every penny. INFI is some truly great stuff.

Yup. ESEE will replace it and Jeff will probably call you an idiot (rightfully deserved).

It's a real shame that some people would take advantage of that though.

Strider used to have the same warranty until people screwed that up....
