Buy a STRIDER knife...NOT ME!

Just so everyone knows, my last post was aimed at 1whobuys and no one else. He has since sent me a very reasoned private email to which I have responded. As to everything else said in this thread, I don't honestly know why I ever got involved. Taste in equipment is very personal. I like Striders, I also like alot of other knifemakers. Some cops I know have safes full of guns. I have knives instead. I just jumped in because I felt that the Strider guys were being attacked for something stupid, not by the original poster, but by others jumping on. It reminded me of the occasional "bash Ernest Emerson" threads that come up from time to time. I am not going any deeper into this. You all have fun.

if not, and you mean you where one of the guys on a forage, on a nucular reaction team, on alert, or some thing along the lines of a C.B.R team leader......
Thanks for putting your life on the line too.
You are in the 2% that have a clue.

I do not wish to start a personal war with you. But I find this statement very insulting to many people. What about all the brave rescue workers, Cops, Fireman, EMT's, and all those that I cant name, who gave their lives or continued to risk them? What about the average soldier who's job might not be so glamorous? Because they don't have some alphabet soup name are they not important? So they don't have a CLUE why they risk their lives? I do not know who you are or what you do, but it seems to me that you should have a little more respect for all that risk their lives. True spec-ops type people go into harms way more frequently, true they often put themselves in grave danger, but so do MANY others. Danger takes-on many faces, courage has one, and thats to do your job even though you may be afraid, or you have a clue why you are risking your life. I think it is disgraceful to dishonor so manys memories, and insult so many brave men and women by insinuating that they knew not why they risked their lives, or did not have a clue.
If I have misunderstood your post, please feel free to email me offline, my post is an honest representation of who I am.
Chris

Panzer075, You Sir are correct.
In the heat of the moment the other night I posted a very narrow "inclusive group" But you are right, my group of 2% would include those that you speak of, and to them I say "Thanks You"
I have sent emails to a few to express this. Thank You for giving me the opportunity to state it here on a public forum.

I'm sure my 98%, 2% numbers are not correct either but even if it's 95%-5%, 85%-15%, you still get my point.

5% get it and would know what to do in an emergency, would know how, when, where and be capable of using these tools as they are designed.

To the 5% that are in that group you are exempt from my comments and I will say "I'm sorry I did not exclude you earlier. You know if you fit in to this catagory or not. If your not sure if you fit in, you don't.

To the other 95% I say open your eyes, get a clue, see what is going on around you and be prepaired you are not sheep. Please stop acting like one.

My observations are said in general and not directed at any one person or group. I guess Mr. Strider just knows how to bring the best out of all of us.

As we move on in to the Chrismas season, watch your back. Things aren't as good as the government would have you believe.

Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas to all.

I just don't get the argument. Its a friggin' knife not a supercomputer. It is designed to open crates, cut ropes, whatever. The knives are designed for cutting and prying(striders anyway). No one ever said the designs were for hand to hand specifically.I think this whole thread has has taken a weird turn from the original topic of customer service.
BTW-nice to finally see someone from my home town on the boards.

So, Is THIS A WRAP???????
Just a correction, then I gotta blow my cookies. MR. STRIDER has NEVER brought the BEST out of me. That Sir, I have done ALL BY MYSELF. Just like the 99%, that is CORRECT 99 P-E-R-C-E-N-T that post on this Forum. The ONLY sheep here are the ONE-PERCENT who bought your sorry-assed self serving attempt to qualify stupidity.
1whobuys, I sir, do NOT know how to build a 2X2 Deck on the back of my house, and you DO NOT know how to Judge a Human being and His/her accomplishments in life simply by the knife HE MAKES, CARRIES, OWNS or USES.
time to puke, BE-cuz the Customer is ONLY right when he shows the MAN DIGNITY and RESPECT..........Ira:rolleyes:

Sifu-if you whacked somone in the spine whith a Strider folder I would definitely call it abuse. It might even kill the guy:D

Wolfmann-you are really selling your fellow forumites short here. You don't really belive 1 percent bought into 1whobuys calculations on who "gets it".I myself would never presume to know who is and who isn't qualified. But then again I have never edited out
the content of my post before.(its an honor thing). Thanks for serving us Ira.I appreciate it.

I know I got here late, but I still have a few things to say.

First of all I think Mr. Strider was 100% wrong.

Mr.Strider, you talk about how the customer is not always right, and keeping your personal dignity is more important than making a sale. Couldn't agree with you more, Mr. Strider. But there is a difference between keeping your dignity, and not being able to accept critisism. An 11 day wait for a reply is not reasonable by any standards and you shouldn't blow your top off when Mr.SKTRGNLDR told you that. You said in your post that you consider yourself an honest man, and that is why you won't apologise for telling him to "F-uck Off". Well Mr.Strider if you are honest, than you should certanly agree with me that an 11 day wait for an e-mail is not very reasonable, and you should at least apologise for that. If you would've done that in the first reply, than this whole thing would've ended differently.

Another thing, your reply was somewhat abrupt. You know, Mr. Strider you don't have to kiss ass of the customer, but surely there is nothing wrong with being extra-helpful. Like maybe including a direct link to the dealer page. I'm sure you see my point. You know selling these high-priced knifes, people don't just buy the knife, they also buy you(kinda). I mean one of the charms of the custom made knifes is that you know exacly where they are made and who made them, and personal rapport plays a great part in that too. I don't think that you should forget the personall part of the buisness while excelling in making knifes.

So, those are my 2cents. Feel free to rip me apart now, or at least try. I won't go down easily.

PS. Mr. Strider you sad "You can't even tell an ******* to F-uck off, with out a provoking a diskussion". If you said that to him in a bar, or somewhere else when you were not working, that is fine. But you were working at that time, Mr.Strider. Eventhough you own the company, and work for your self, you are still working and there for expected to behave in a professional manner. You don't have to bend over backwards, or kiss ass, but you don't have to telling a person to F-uck Off is clearly unproffesional nomatter how you put it. If you didn't wanna deal with him you could've just written, "With an attitude like yours, I don't want to have you as a customer. Regards."
I mean you may walk around your house in your underwear, do you do the same thing in the office?? What I am trying to say is that things ARE different in the office, even if you work for your self.

This message was edited because i accidenttly hit "Send message" before i finished typing.

Ya know, I've sat back and watched this post continue on and noticed that the majority of people agree with Mick, as I do. So what does soemone who is losing a battle do? They enlist the help of other people. So now, someone who has NEVER posted here before shows up and puts in his two cents. Sir, I suggest you take your pennies and shove em. People who show up in BFC to start trouble or to join in a battle have no business here and should be eliminated. Someone with only one post, critisising a maker, will never gain any respect from me. If you are a BFC regular and you just created a new identity so you could join in and not have anyone know who you are, grow a pair and don't hide behind a different identity.

BaliLover:

I am not here to start up any trouble. I merely expressed my opinion on this whole situation. I never said anything about the quality of Strider knifes ether. I am sure they are very well made. But the customer service is not up to the standard it should be. Especcially since Mr.Strider confirmed that he did tell the guy to F-uck Off. If it was two conflicting stories, than yes, I probably would've refrained from posting, since I don't know ether party. But the story is the same, and in this case Strider is 100% wrong. He even admitted himself that the customer service should be better than it is now. So what is wrong with apologising when it took you 11 days to respond. Like I said there is a difference between kissing-ass, and admiting your mistakes.

In case you are wondering, I was redirected here from another site. I mainly post on watches and fountain pen forum as those are my main interests but I own several knifes as well. I'm not here to help anyone. As a matter of fact the link that got me here was pretty neutral, it said something like "You should read this interesting thread".

You are right, I only have 1 post. So what? My points are still valid no matter how you spin it. As a matter of fact this whole thread is really not about knifes. Its about Mr. Strider himself and his treatment of the customer. I may not be an authority on knifes, but I have been collecting for sometime, and I have dealt with numerous dealers and artisans and such. Very few people behave themselfs the way Mr. Strider did.

What is wrong with me critisizing a knife-maker? What just because Mr.Strider makes knifes he is some kind of god? Just like the customer is not always right, the seller is not always right as well.
The seller should not kiss ass to make a sale, but the buyer shouldn't kiss ass to get some recognition as well, and that is what Mr. Strider expects his customers to do.

Mr. Wolfmann are you sure you are old enough to legally own a knife. Be careful those are sharp instrumnets, you may cut yourself.

2sniper, now you've done it!
The wolfmann will not let this one slip by unanswered.
Bend down and expose your arse, mate.
