Camillus and Schrade of Old Given Short Shrift Now-A-Days

Sticking with the same theme this week, Ulster 58OT for today's EDC. OH

I'm fairly new to the "traditional" knife world, but I cannot stop being thrilled by this Camillus 51 I got recently!
At times I feel like it's too nice to actually use (considering it's age) but then I feel how can I keep this beauty from doing what it was made to do?
It's edge is still sharp and ready to go, and it's getting almost daily pocket time.

I picked up a couple of Camillus Knives , heres a couple of the later arrivals...

I pick these up for direct partners of comparisons to the Sears Line - I think its kinda cool to have the same Knife with different markings to show the relationship, Camillus just Rock man.......

Lighting kinda is in sucky moto mode - sorry about that :(

Beautifully detailed Knife....

Another Camillus, our very good friend Steve posted a Stellar brother to this knife just the other day......

I feel like I should, but I won't apologize for not cleaning my knives, I am kinda hating seeing all these very very shiny knives popping up especially in another social media on Knives, please don't bling up the old, they LOOK better Old, Old carries History, History is within the Patina, as is all the hands who have worked with that knife since it's release from the Cutlers Hands.

Patina is Knife DNA. :)

Love the Bone Camillus used - a few different variations, and they all worked so well.

Couldn’t agree with you more Duncan. Beautiful knives shown.

Since you’ve got me thinking about camillus now Duncan, I couldn’t help but show off this beauty again. Camillus 81 deluxe 3 7/8” stock with beautiful dark roger’s bone. I saw this in a catalog and never expected to come across one, let alone an unused one. The fancy liners that camillus did are my favorite of the type.

It seems we've pushed aside Camillus knives and Schrade knives of old - pre 2007(USA) made. There just aren't many threads started about those grand old knives. I was going through some of my older user knives this morning and came across these two. Really, really great knives.

First up is a Camillus 72Y Yellow Jacket Whittler with yellow delrin covers with 420HC steel blades. It has a nice match strike pull with a subtle blade etch. I bought this knive around 1992.

Next up is a Schrade 80T Old Timer stockman with delrin covers. It belonged to a Navy buddy that I served with for over 20-years. He bought the knife around 1992 also. His wife was kind enough to pass it on to me when he passed. As you can see he used it hard but then that's how he used most of his tools.

PLEASE keep comments and pictures to USA made (pre 2007) Camillus and Schrade branded knives. Thanks.
Man, I love that Schrade! Very nice. Also, thanks for your service. I’m not from the USA, still thanks.

Sweet !

My meager "collection" or "accumulation" of USA Schrade brands.
I believe the Imperial Ireland Barlow "counts" since Imperial-Schrade owned the factory in Ireland, they can't be considered "contract" knives?
(if as is likely I am wrong, please let me know.)
1988-2004 Imperial Ireland Barlow; 1956-1988 Imperial Prov. RI Barlow; c.1947-1955 Imperial Engineer's knife;
c. 1980 Ulster "Official BSA" Scout/Camp knife; c.1950's-1960's Ulster Number 10 Barlow.
(Ulster Barlow is not one of the RJR tobacco knive.)

oops. forgot this 1978 to 1984 Old Timer 858 Lumberjack stockman and same age 4 pin (not "Schrade +") Old Timer 7OT.

Not sure if this c.1990's no "R" number "Remington" canoe (single backspring) "counts" as it was probably a contract knife made by Camillus.
