Can anyone here make this knife for me?

Hey I've been following this thread and i'm quite facinated by it. I'm new to these forums and I'd like to get into knife making. I'm an ironworker in ny and I weld also so you can say I like working with steel i guess. This seems to be a good way for me to get started but can anyone tell me what tools I would need to make this knife?

ok i think this is what you wanted DH,

and this one is with the thumb recess

#13a, #13b are just a hair under 5" long and 2" wide

#14 and #15 are 4" long by 2" wide.

the grid you see is just graph paper where 5 lines is one inch. but being a dumb ass i did #13a and #13b on the back side of the paper so when i scaned them you can not see the grid.

JT, is that a standard engineering pad you are drawing on? If so, that is the purpose of the paper, you can see the lines, but when scanned/copied they are not there.

I really like what you are doing here. These designs are really popping.

yep standard engineering pad i have a bunch of them. but i want the lines when i scan so that is why i do it on the other side. pricecw if you want one should let me know soon as the list is getting long.

Again, nice work on the models JT.I really appreciate the effort you've put forth in what must be a time consuming process.I like #14 the best but I'd want it with finger holes not the pill hole..I really like the shape conforming slot on #14 also.

ya i did the slot like this so that if you wanted to cord wrap it you could and not have to much trubble. #14 is actualy a little smaller than 4" i think its 3 3/4. i like the 2 holes as well. ill put up a drawing with the 2 holes for you Chief-Yeah

Thanks JT, I use the engineering pads all of the time and at times love the disappearing lines, and other times curse them.

These are interesting, but really not my style for myself. I do really like what you are doing with the design and wanted to compliment you on it though. I think you have taken the original ideas and really run with them here.

im glad that we could get a design your totaly happy with. i will start it tonight. did you want file work any file work, on mine im going to do file work across the whole back.

Hey JT (and anyone else interested) what do you think of this design? and can you 3-D it easily. No worries if you can't/don't want to. I plan on making a rough of it out of plastic or aluminum to see if I'd like it tomorrow.

The size is the actual size of a credit card. And I'd put crosshatches down the spine starting just above the small hole on the front and going back to the front of the rear finger hole.

I've also got one with the curve in the blade up. Just an option.

Any opinions Good/Bad/Otherwise are welcome.

Yeah I'd love to see a model of it JT,thanks. As for the length I actually like the shortness of the original design so I would probably go even shorter on #14.It's hard to tell from the picture though that's why I want the first one I purchase to be as close to the original as possible so I can get some idea.I can think of about three designs I'd like to purchase if and when you have the time and materials.

its funny when you have the time you dont have the steel and when you get the steel you have no time, whats up with that. im working on Deaths head knife right now. im hopeing to have it dont in the next fue days, ill do your model for you tonight Chief-Yeah.

I would like to make a public apoligy to every one. first im sorry my 3d models dont seem to be very acuract size wise, im using 3ds max and it does not have realy any guide lines for mesurements so i was just going off what looks good. i have now corrected this problem by using solidworks to do my modeling. secount im so sorry for my spelling, i know is bad and i hope you can still read it. its funny because while growing up all the other kids where doing home work while i was in my dads shop building stuff like a air powered water gun that would shoot 1gallon of water in one burst with 120 psi behind it. so my spelling is lacking but "I can build anything out of anything".

JTknives, I'll take it with file work from the spine of the blade until the middle of the pill hole. I think that will cover the traction we are looking for for most.

ok here thay are true to scale with everything marked with mesurments.

this is the basic valor design that has come about after very much work, it has the 2 finger holes and a cutout that is not conected to the back finger hole to prevent pinching.

this next set is for you Death's Head. this is how it should look when i get it done for you. im hopeing that the cutout wont be to hard, i will have to hand file it to shape but i love doing that.

let me know what you think and if there should be any more changes. i hope you dont mind i did not model the edge bevles.

No apologies necessary JT.I think the models have been more than adequate enough to get your point across.
As for your spelling I wouldn't exactly call myself a "wordsmith" either so don't worry about that either.
I hate to be a nuisance but do you think you could also model one with the #1 blade shape you posted on page two of this thread.I'd like one of the designs I purchase to have that shape with a sharpened edge on both the top and bottom of the blade if that's at all possible.Thanks.

Looks great to me JTknives. Bravo!
Also, no need to apologize. You are communicating just fine, and whatever you lack in spelling, you are more than making up for it in with your knife designs.

did you want the tumb rest added to the #1 blade?

Is it even possible to add a thumb rest if both sides are sharpened ?I want to try and keep the overall length as short as possible so I think it's probably best to leave it off.Thanks.

been reading this thread with amazement, jtknives to hell with spelling, your artistic and knife skills are top notch.thanks for a great show my man.
