OK, here are my initial thoughts, but I will marinate on this as long as there is still time.
First off, check out these knives.

Now, with the knife that I have on me from B Finnigan, the blade doesn't extend enough from the hole. If you look at the someway similar grips that you will see on the knives above, there has to be enough blade for you to be able to place your thumb.
I think we should extend the blade by 1/2" or so. Just enough so that you can comfortably place your thumb on the spine of the blade. Initially I was thinking to also move the blade so that it is more in front of the hole where your index finger goes, but I think if you we keep the same basic blade shape and location, all you will have to do is make it a little longer. Doing this will make the knife really unique because the way your fingers will be situated in the blade. Keeping the blade the way it is by extending it will maximize the length of the edge of the entire knife.
I will print out one of the first pics and draw out what I am talking about. I will just have to go and buy some ink for my printer first.
