Can anyone here make this knife for me?

OK, here are my initial thoughts, but I will marinate on this as long as there is still time.

First off, check out these knives.

Now, with the knife that I have on me from B Finnigan, the blade doesn't extend enough from the hole. If you look at the someway similar grips that you will see on the knives above, there has to be enough blade for you to be able to place your thumb.

I think we should extend the blade by 1/2" or so. Just enough so that you can comfortably place your thumb on the spine of the blade. Initially I was thinking to also move the blade so that it is more in front of the hole where your index finger goes, but I think if you we keep the same basic blade shape and location, all you will have to do is make it a little longer. Doing this will make the knife really unique because the way your fingers will be situated in the blade. Keeping the blade the way it is by extending it will maximize the length of the edge of the entire knife.
I will print out one of the first pics and draw out what I am talking about. I will just have to go and buy some ink for my printer first.

this is what i have come up with trying to keep with the original idea. just think about all the ways you could hold it now. total length would be around 4 1/2".

i think i like # 6 the best because you still have the basic original hand grip styles that you can do but with added thump support. but also with the enlongated frount finger cut out you have a tone more holding options. here is a more straight on shot of it

I like #8 myself. That is pretty much what I had in mind. But maybe not quite that long. Maybe a 0.25" shorter.

O ya and i forgot to tell everyone that i got my steel today, thay forsome resion onley sent my half of my order so i onley have 18" of steel but that should le me get started. im still wating on the drill bit. just thought i would keep you posted on the progress

Great work on the models JT.If I had to choose one of these I think I like the #5 three hole design the best.Any chance you could you model that one with the original blade shape ?

I was thinking this over while I was holding the wallet knife that I have. I was thinking of the #8 blade with a pill-shaped hole instead of 2 holes. That way, if you index finger in the pill, your finger doesn't have to come out of the hole to change hand positions. It just has to slide down the pill. Get what I mean?

ya i see what you mean, now i gess my question to you is this. i was planing on starting your knife tonight and when its done if you like it then well work out a deal. but have you made your final disicion on the style yet, i know its hard there are so many good designes it hard to decide. i just have to get going on making them and you the first person on the list and the wating list is getting long and i hate to make people wate. it also looks like my going to be doing some of these knives in damascus steel as well, i have a fue requests for this steel. so just let me know and ill see what i can do.

O i was just thinking that if you do the pill idea then you might have a problem with one of the major positions of holding. this would be your pointer finger in the first hole and your bird finger on the bottom half hole, it seames like the blade could be pushed down easyley so your pointer finger ends up in the secount hole. if this is not a problem for you than its a good idea. so you realy want a #8 blade with a #9 hole style minus the hole thats up tords the tip. yould you like any fries with that hehehehe

I don't think the way you described holding the knife with you last post will be one of my options. So, yeah, I will have what I have quoted you above.
So more or less, it is going to look similar to the HAK in the link below. The HAK that is attached to the women's leg. Except yours will have the extra portion that allows a push dagger grip. Right?

I must have been confused earlier. I understand now what you are talking about when holding th knife witht he index and middle finger. With that being said, I think it will be fine even whrn holding the knife like a push knife. I'll still go with the pill shape.
And supersize my order! Ha! Ha!

so you also wanted a shorter blade than the 1" extention. ill model it with a 1/2" extention.

ok DH here you go, hope this is what you wanted. i shortened the blade by 1/2" so now the total length is 4".

#10 is the same as #11 but with out the recess for the thumb.

JT, I hope I'm still on the list. I don't really care what disign you make. Just make the one you like best, and I'll be happy with it.
Thanks, Greg.

not to wory greg you number 3. is there any style you like more than another?

no, not really. I like the idea of being suprised. Whatever you come up with will be cool with me. I'm really looking forward to making a kydex sheath for it.

#11 looks great. I'm not really sure how it should be shortened if any at all. It's difficult to go by pics alone. As long as my thumb can rest comfortably on the thumb recess. But all those models looks great. I have a feeling I'll be ordering others in the future. I'll have to check some other blade of similar style to these to see around how long the blade of your knife should be. the last thing I want is to end up taking off too much.
