Can I ask you Hawk guys a question? Input please..

Very interested. I haven't ever fell in love with the trailhawks, and handforged hawks are out of my price range. Handforged, atleast a 3 inch edge, and unfinished haft? For 50 bucks, damn right, I'm getting one.

Hi guys..Sorry i havent updated this thread..Ive had several doc's appointments this week(everythings tunred out great though)..Anyway heres the update..We have recieved the steel and a new shipment of handles from dunlaps..We use Dunlaps because the handles are more uniform and are a near perfect match to the production tomahawk drifts out there..Crazy crow is cheaper by more than a dollar per handle but we are not completely satisfied with their shape..So Lisa just ordered the better handles..These happen to be straight grain Ash..nice handles..Aldo worked his magic and got us the 5/16" thick bar of 1075 in too..
The plan is too have a couple done and post pics by Saturday if everything goes OK..That way folks can decide if they like them...Then if enough people like it the production will start
Hows that sound guys?

I believe everybody is sittin on the edge of their seats, ready to get in line for their Tomahawks!

Thanks guys, Lisa gets off work early today s the plan is still to have a couple made this weekend to show you guys..

I think it is genius !!! What a great way to get working people (without a lot of cash-like myself) into a custom made. I also think it will build a great customer base, that will buy again &/or upgrade to something a little more pricey, providing they really like the first one. Great idea IMHO.

anxious to see these! I have been wanting a traditional 'hawk quite awhile...this seems like a great excuse/opportunity to get one!

Even though I have my first hand made hawk coming to me in the mail (a Fort Turner), I would love one of these. Can't wait to see what they look like:)

Ok guys..Here is the deal on the list..Lisa is gonna start taking a list..Please you need to understand Lisa works 4 days aweek at the health dept and we gone part of the day Sunday..So as you can see not a great deal of time..So shes gonna try this to see how it works out..
Please PM me here or email Lisa at phllpwest@bellsouth.net to be added to the list If at all possible please do this..I really done want this to turn into a multi page ordering thread..I dont think that would go over well and honestly I like this forum too much too do that..
Names will be added in chronological order(didnt think a hillbilly could use big words did ya'?;) ) Lisa does not take payment up front..Please be patient as we have never done anything like this before :)

Ok, here is proto #1 the only thing that will be changed about it is the eye shape a bit..All of these will have full length 1075 cutting bits with a body of 1018 steel..You would be supprised at how many people ask but these are NOT brazed or welded up with a mig welder :D They are completely forge welded..
Cutting edge is about 3 3/4" wide//handle is Ash..Lightly burned, stained and then coated with boiled linseed oil..

Here is #2..The eye is a bit more traditional but both are a good tight fit so it really dosnt matter to be honest..Probably stck with this more closed eye though..Same as before..Full length 1075 bit welded in a 1018 body with Ash haft..Same 3 3/4" wide cutting edge..
Its very hard to get these all exactly alike, very hard It can be done but just takes too much time..I just want folks to understand that..If you order one it wil be appx the same size and shape but will probably not look exactly like one of these..

A few final thoughts..They are all sharpened to about 800 grit on the belt then buffed heavily with green compound on the buffing wheel..They are very sharp;)
The price will be $50 plus shipping..Shipping will be for priority mail with conformation..Lisa dosnt charge any more for shipping than what it is..I drop them off at the PO for here when shes at work..So when you give your name for a list if you dont mind please give your zip code as well so a fair and accurate shipping quote can be had..That way none is paying to much for shipping
All comments are welcome but agian Please PM me here or email Lisa ta phllpwest@bellsouth.net to be added to the list
Thanks guys for being patient..:)

looks good - and a killer value!
one thought, if you ship with no handle, they would fit in a fairly compact box and save a chunk on shipping.

Wow! They look absolutely great. I'm so pleased to hear that you are not only getting this project of the ground, but also that you are keeping well sir.

I have sent an email enquiry as per your request.

Kind Regards

I am really wanting one of those now, but I must ask...I live in British Columbia Canada, would you ship to me? Also, would it cut down on shipping costs if you were to just ship the head?

I agree, if those of us outside the US are lucky to make the list, head only may be the way forward, as people have suggested.

That's reasonable. If anything it adds value to the tool, IMO. Each one is hand forged. We shouldn't expect them to look machine made.

Kentucky, I think this is a GREAT idea, and amazing price.

Kentucky those look great. Personally, I like the second of the two.
I also sent Lisa an email to get on the list.

Thank you,

Brian
