There has been some talk in the guitar communities about the fact that the really dark Ebony is becoming harder and harder to find. Also, I think Bob Taylor of Taylor guitars has some sort of monopoly on a large quantity of the fine Ebony coming into the US. He basically told his consumers to get used to streaked and lighter colored Ebony from now on.

Some of those do look lightly striped, but these look rather dark...

I ordered an ebony, and I wouldn't mind a darker one, but I'll be happy with either.

I believe they are only making the Northfields with two blades, and the Tidioute brand as single blades.

I don't recall an "official" answer (or even that the question's been asked before?), but going by this image-- the squared tang-- I'd guess half-stopped.
