can someone explain to me why there is a maxpedition boycott?

You're right, a more suitable comparison is Mick Strider/Paul Basal.

LOL your so far off base your not even on the field.

stropper said:
Both of them were prepared to live a lie, just to sell knives.
One of them fabricated his own lies, the other allowed lies about him to be repeated for years and enjoyed the status they got him.

This makes your last statement

I hate the fact that BS sells knives.
Too many companies/knifemakers are mentioning their connections to the military or the units using their knives.
How many "official seal knives" do you know of ?
How many martial arts instructors, snipers, etc... actually had a hand in designing the knife that sports their name?
Do they think we're idiots?

And you said it not me.... but yes I do think that of you. EVERY KNIFE that is CO-DESIGNED is done with the knowledge and input from the person co-designing; non-disclosers and all the good legalese you can choke down. The only knife that I remember being signed by anybody other then Mick Strider or Duane Dwyer (owners of Strider Knives) Is the "Chuck Mawhinney" model sniper knife. (By the way the knife was actually made in honor of Mr. Mawhinney) Now did he know about that knife...? Hmmm well I did meet him once hanging out at the Strider Booth talking about the knife with convention goers, so I would figure that makes you look like and idiot.
Because if Chuck Mawhinney is not a good enough sniper for ya then you really are an IDIOT.
As for Paul Basal, I don't know him or his knives. I have seen some pretty hollywood looking advertisements from the company called BlackOps. But to my knowledge until you brought up his name he wasn't involved with this. As for Official SEAL Knives to my knowledge they were never delivered from MadDog so I guess there are not any of those either. I know, I know Strider made a SEAL 2000 knife.... I seem to remember a very large order of them going out a very long time ago and beside a few select pieces all of them went out of country and were not for sale to the general public. As for advertising well I have not seen a Strider paid for ad that promoted anything but, "HIGH SPEED TOOLS FOR A HARD CORE INDIVIDUALS" tm. Maybe a very hopped up individual would think the Strider name with flames and destruction and all kinds of nasties would make a great ad but neither Mick nor Duane do; they think the Knives should speak for themselves. Any pictures shown on their website are actual operators who VOLUNTEERED to do the shoot for the website and for magazines not published in the USA. Although come to think of it some of them might have been used over here..... been awhile back...

stropper said:
Mick and Basal took that kind of deception even further.
Armchair warriors just ate it up.
(That's also the reason why probably 90% of all striders ever sold are still NIB and will remain that way.)

Ya know you are probably wrong on this one as well, I would say probably closer to 30% are safe pieces new in the box and all. Because the knives don't lend themselves to sit there, the knives dare you to try them and abuse them, they laugh at morons like you who whine about BS and then say oh but I will probably buy it anyway. Wah Baby buy the knife or don't but quit crying already.

SO AGAIN I WILL ASK WHY DO YOU CARE???? What do you want? Do you want Mick to jump and bow at your feet and say he's sorry? (DREAM ON JERKY)

As for me well I just enjoy watching you squirm.....

Over here in America we have Freedom of Speech,I know ya'll do too but we also have Freedom not to speak or post. Why would Mick, whom I do not know but plan on purchasing one of his knives, hell, maybe two, post in such an ugly thread. And as far as keeping said knife,NIB.After paying 350 + for a knife designed for hard or extreme use I can guarantee you it won't be kept in a drawer or a diplay case.IMO,by not posting here Mick Strider has shown he can rise above the muckrakers who keep stirring this unwarranted pot.It says Honorable Discharge on his discharge papers, that is enough for me.One more thing,I was involved in a car theft a long time ago,no jail sentence,I was lucky. It was about 30 years ago and that ended my criminal career.Hope people will still sell me their knives.Sincerely,leatherbird. :)

Whatever, why would you even throw your two cents in or wait you don't have two cents it's rubles right so pound sand commie....

I really find this amazing that people have these assumptions but then again you probably don't own a Strider knife and probably never will; good that means people who need them will get them.

You are right - I do not buy things that I do not like (I wanted to say ugly but you would get offended, right?) :D

BrandonLeeMckinley,

After post 201, you don't really deserve an answer anymore but I have to ask:
Are you Mickey Ray Burger?

You certainly have a lot in common.

-Neither of you can handle your frustrations very well
(hell, after post 201 they should make a foaming-at-the-mouth emoticon for you)

-You both have a lot of difficulties refraining from personal insults.

-You both keep writing "your" when you mean "you're".

I don't want you to pop a vein but is that you, Mick?

Yea, I hate those guys that use their military background to help them sell knives

Michelle, that was a great "girlie" post and said alot. :)

Did I ever tell you guys about the man that carries a snapping turtle around in his front pocket?

Now, back to the original thread.....

Totally uncool and has to be one of the most unintelligent comments, or attacks, posted in this thread !

Little world history lesson BrandonLeeMcKinley. . . . .

While the Czech Republic fell under Communist party rule and practiced socialism, not all of their subjects believed in or practiced what the government preached.

Amazing concept, huh ?

It’s truly unfortunate that people have no control over their birth place.

Background: Following the First World War, the closely related Czechs and Slovaks of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire merged to form Czechoslovakia. During the interwar years, the new country's leaders were frequently preoccupied with meeting the demands of other ethnic minorities within the republic, most notably the Sudeten Germans and the Ruthenians (Ukrainians). After World War II, a truncated Czechoslovakia fell within the Soviet sphere of influence. In 1968, an invasion by Warsaw Pact troops ended the efforts of the country's leaders to liberalize Communist party rule and create "socialism with a human face." Anti-Soviet demonstrations the following year ushered in a period of harsh repression. With the collapse of Soviet authority in 1989, Czechoslovakia regained its freedom through a peaceful "Velvet Revolution." On 1 January 1993, the country underwent a "velvet divorce" into its two national components, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Czech Republic joined NATO in 1999 and the European Union in 2004.

Economic Perspective: The Czech Republic is one of the most stable and prosperous of the post-Communist states of Central and Eastern Europe. Growth in 2000-04 was supported by exports to the EU, primarily to Germany, and a strong recovery of foreign and domestic investment. Domestic demand is playing an ever more important role in underpinning growth as interest rates drop and the availability of credit cards and mortgages increases. Current account deficits of around 5% of GDP are beginning to decline as demand for Czech products in the European Union increases. Inflation is under control. Recent accession to the EU gives further impetus and direction to structural reform. In early 2004 the government passed increases in the Value Added Tax (VAT) and tightened eligibility for social benefits with the intention to bring the public finance gap down to 4% of GDP by 2006, but more difficult pension and healthcare reforms will have to wait until after the next elections. Privatization of the state-owned telecommunications firm Cesky Telecom is scheduled to take place in 2005. Intensified restructuring among large enterprises, improvements in the financial sector, and effective use of available EU funds should strengthen output growth.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. A closed mind. . .something that you’ve been on your soapbox preaching. . .is something complete different !

Thanks for contributing the latter - practice what you preach. ;)

Now I have to get a Strider knife to carry in my Maxpedition Fatboy (with the tags still on) every day. They both make good products and thats the bottom line for me. I don't know and have never met any of these people involved and I don't really care. I have enough of my own problems and drama in my own real life, I don't need to get caught up in other people's drama via the internet no less. This thread is clogging up the GBU and needs to be locked already.

Some people are using this thread as a stage to display their character. We're not interested in how much of a dork you might be unless you're a knife maker or dealer. If you want to talk about the other people who have posted in this thread you can go to the Whine & Cheese forum; if you keep doing it here we'll have to ban you.

BrandonLeeMcKinley is not Mick Strider. (You shouldn't need IPs to see that; their writing style is completely different.)

Try to stick to the "facts" man!

Hey Brandon is a friend and the opposite of unintelligent. Don't let his reference to commies blind the public to spew that came out of Stropper's mouth. Brandon calls him a commie for it? (something which I call many people at my institution here. :D )

Hey Stropper, your attempted dual insult at both Mick and Brandon was very sophomorish. Oh well, thats you... and as we say around here "Wear it."

Also your likening of Mick Strider (not Burger) to Paul Basal makes me wonder a few things. What do you have against an American Veteran, who makes it his business to make knives directed to thier areas of expertise? I'll admit, I dont like the DarkOps ad campaign. Its way to hollywood, and well it's very gay. Not three days ago my roommate and I were talking about it specifically. The point I made is that the Paul Basal I met at SHOT 2005 was a genuinely friendly and knowledgable man. He was more than willing to BS with us for about 45min, cloggin up his display and drinking nearly all of his beer. When I mentioned Strider knives (good way to test the water, and this thread proves it) he said only good things, and that he would like to meet Mr. Strider and Mr.Dwyer. The companies marketing stragedy, albeit nausiating, doesn't truly reflect the man.

My point? Likening Strider/Basal to a Marcinko-type meglomaniac just speaks for your own debt of character and lack of understanding. In fact Marcinko served too, and IMO all three of these American Veterans deserve way more respect, that you are capable if showing but chose not to.

Here I'll tell you all something before I get big in the industry, here you go.

I've screwed up pretty much everything I've ever tried to do. I have 3 speeding tickets. No kids that I know of. I fart alot. I swear pretty much everywhere but at my moms dinner table. I do poorly in school. I'm left handed. I do pick my nose, and I sing to the radio while driving. There I just saved Lynn Thompson 10g's.

F---'em if they can't take a joke

Thanks for setting him straight. This past weekend was the anniversary of the Soviet/Warsaw bloc invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, putting an end to the "Prague Spring" when the Czechs and Slovaks tried to break away from their oppressors. Really bad time to be stupid about it.

Notice the words, “unintelligent comments?” An intelligent person has the ability of spewing unintelligent verbiage. ;)

Well was your question answered? I have to ask where you looking to buy a maxpedtion or Strider product? I know for me this is a touchy subject due to the underhandedness involved on the part of Mcclung and crew, I would have thought that someone who claimed 200 knife fights (oh wait he erased that from his forum) would at the very least be more upfront in dealing with things, not sneaking around hiding behind so called anonymous persons and reports
