can someone explain to me why there is a maxpedition boycott?

Here are the things that really suck about this whole thing:

- I have had email conversation with Tim Tang, president of Maxpedition, and Strider (who I assume is El Jefe at Strider) and both people were nice, normal, good people to deal with.

- I have bought products from both companies and found the products to be of good quality.

Because I'm not involved in this mess, I don't know the whole story. I'll continue to use the Maxpedition products I use (I send some of my knives out in Razorshells) and I'll continue to enjoy my PT. If I got caught up in every "he said, she said" battle concerning the world of knives and "tactical" accessories I wouldn't be able to buy anything from anyone.

Now that that has been said, what's better, a Sebenza or a Strider? Is the Buck Strider any good? :barf:

That could have been the first and last post on this thread.

For David1967... Here is your apology for calling you a commie.... no real excuse other than to say it was late and you put Lynn Thompson in line next to my friend.

For the rest of the malcontents I don't know what to tell you the facts.... REAL FACTS have been posted ad nauseam and the post has gone all over the map from the place it started and so with that I will go back to the original question and say this again.....

1. I believe, but do not know, that the Maxpedition boycott started on USN.
2. Mick Strider did not ask for people to boycott anything.
3. Other then being attack for his past (paid for to the State of California's satisfaction), questioned about stories written about him (not by him), and advertising, and all the other great wide and gathering stories.... Mick did nothing but make knives and sell them.... THE END

Also for David1967... no some of the knives are kinda ugly in a purty way....

Stropper.... am I Mick Strider???? that is the best you can come up with? whatever doobe; popcorn in hand I will sit and wait and type proper responses that amuse me and my friends, I will try and refrain from commie comments...... and for the record I don't study Slavic/Czech history... I think that is because I am not Slavic/Czech and was in fact born here in the states.... don't know really all that much about it although I do a good Russian accent and I like Vodka drinks...... Oh I also work with some pretty hot girls from that part of the world.... In fact I do believe that one is from the Czech Republic... so I will see if she can tutor me on the info GigOne provided.

As for being new around here Wrong again...... I have another handle but I can't seem to remember the password...... now that one would date me back I think to around 93-94 so I have been here awhile but as I said earlier I am more comfortable elsewhere.... I also said, before somebody jumps in and says go back there, that I was here because I felt my friend had been wronged and was trying to sort it out..... and we wound up riding around in circles as more BS was added to the stream of spewage.

With that said, again to David1967 I do truly apologize for my comment and hope that if you make it to the states for one of the knife shows you will stop by and see Mick and the boys who knows if it is here in Vegas I might even be there and we can share a shot or two of Vodka....

I find it amazing how several have posted stating that our military does not use Strider tools or have no connection with them.

I find it shocking that they state that most Striders are kept as safe queens. Have ANY of you been to the SandBox lately!!?!?!

Is it that hard to believe that Soldiers, LEO and Outdoorsman wish to buy a Strider because its a superb quality custom knife/tool!!!

I guess if you don't own one, aren't a Soldier, LEO or Outdoorsman whom have seen one in hard use and just type and type things on the computer......you would never know the difference.....

I'll say it again, buy what you want, leave what you don't, more for US!

You're right, a more suitable comparison is Mick Strider/Paul Basal.

Both of them were prepared to live a lie, just to sell knives.
One of them fabricated his own lies, the other allowed lies about him to be repeated for years and enjoyed the status they got him.

Well said!!

Reading back through this mess I can truly say that I think David1967 handled my comment with a smile and slapped me back for it. I like the way he did it as well, I also like all the people who jumped to his defense even though he probably didn't need any help. That is what I call camaraderie and to my understanding that is what these forums are really about. I mean if you have a bad experience with someone you come here and air it out, right? Same as if you have a great experience you come here and say "A+++" or whatever, right?

But what if you have no real experience with the person you are talking about, what if you are going by what you have read but never really had any dealings with the person you are bad mouthing? I mean it is one thing to say "I heard" it is a completely different one to say "I know". Now at the same time if you have a thousand post saying he is an A--hole and one that says he is a nice guy.... well maybe he is an A--hole. And while I will not in anyway apologize for anyone else's comments; I have said mine and mean them. Getting heated about protecting friends can sometimes bring the worst in us out and for that there is no real cure.

Owning or not. . . . .we "all" have opinions.

Why is that so hard to understand ?

His point is probably before you judge the man at least talk to him and get his side.

Cliff, before I talked to Strider to judge Strider about his past, I'd rather talk to the victim of his carjacking. I would like to know that answer from the victim's point of view just how courteous Strider was after he pulled the gun on him and threatened to kill him if he didn't hand over the vehicle.

GigOne.

Thanks for the correction. I'd like to extend my deepest, heartfelt apologies David and Stropper. My bad... Neither of them are commies.

Nahhhhhhhhh, you’re kidding.

Yeah I thought that I had made it pretty apparent that I was kidding, A$$. :D (don't take me calling you an A$$ as a personal attack. Hell, I call my best friends the same thing if they say something stewpid too)

From looking at your previous posts I can't help but notice you really excell at ripping quotes from other posts and countering with pithy comments. While formulaic, it seems to work for you. Then again, it's people like you who keep all that drama flowing. Whats a forum without it's crap-stirrer?

About my comments about Basal... I was only posting that to show that public opinion doesn't reflect the personality or nature of someone. (this can be contrued many ways I know) People say "Mick is this..." or "Paul is that..." Until I met Paul, I thought he was another carsalesman, thanks to the retarded DarkOps marketing. My perception of him changed when I was able to take a few minutes to get to know him a little better.

I can tell you though that Strider and Dwyer are busy busy men. They are very good men. Not many people are as successful who still make the efforts that they do to ensure that thier customers are well taken care of. The majority of the "striderites" here and the Badlands respect and admire not only a great knifemaker, but more than likely a person they've met at a show 4 years ago who made a lasting, positive impression.

Sure Mick did something horrible a long time ago, and it's obvious he has repented of it every day since. Those of you here, and from other places who continue to attack him over his past are obviously depraved human beings. He served his sentence, did his time. Now you want to go back and rehash an old case? Whats with this public double-jeapordy? Unforgiveness is a far greater sin than stealing. (hey who put this soapbox under me?) Why are they trying so hard to destroy someone? Because they don't want to be alone in their fate. Their actions have far outspoken the allegations, and the agenda behind it all is quite obvious.

Can I get an Amen?
Go to Hell?
STFU?

:) JC said it best!!! (even if it did come across subliminally:-)... I've seen more crap slung here than a "Monkey **** Fight" at the ZOO... ,still dosent change the facts.....Mick and the boys make one hell of a blade, I use them HARD and often. Hence Purty in my eyes , I guess we all DO have our opinions. Waste of bandwidth at this point IMHO. None of us are perfect, myself included, OVERALL, its how we choose to live our lives upon which we should be judged.
Loandr.

No!

Tell us......Cause,as far as I know Micks not in jail for murder.

I just saw him a few months ago.

RWS, a lot of people here have been saying that Mick shoved a gun in a guys face. Well let me tell you that is not what happened. Mick might have let it be known that he had a gun, but he did not in fact point it at anyone. He also locked the so called victim out of the vehicle, so he could not get back in, and then told him to get off of the vehicle. That is your violent crime!! I really resent the fact that you people who don't really know what happened try to state the facts. I know what happened, I will not tell you how I know, but believe me I know. As far and Mick committing other crimes, you are really reaching there. So you should really back off of that subject. Unless you know what the hell you are talking about you should shut up and not judge. Mick screwed up, and paid for it, but believe you me, no one was ever in any danger. I know from which I speak. You and the others don't

That is a fact. Strider does make some awesome knives.

I had plans of buying one....an SnG to be exact. I was floored when I found out about his record.

I am a very forgiving person and I personally do not wish anything bad against Strider. The friends that are defending him here are decent and good people.

Before I ever do business with Strider, I'll have to get past this one issue that has taken me by incredible surprise, and one which I may realize some day that I'm over-reacting to.
