can someone explain to me why there is a maxpedition boycott?

Can you post a link for me,I can't seem to find the old Strider forum in the archives. Thanks

It's right there in the list of archives (in alphabetical order), but here's a link: Strider Knives Forum If you search for posts by me in that forum you'll see the most recent at the top of the list; I believe I posted in all the relevant threads.

If you can't find a forum that's not necessarily a problem, but if you can't find your beer it's time to stop drinking and go to bed....

Please point out some evidence that I or any other Bladeforums moderator have made any attempt to "drag down" Mick Strider's name, if you have any evidence.

If you're wondering why Strider no longer has a forum here or why he no longer sells knives to 1SKS, read the last few days of the Strider Forum here; it's all still here for anyone to read. Maybe you can figure out what the problem was. I've never been able to....

I'd also like to see any evidence you have against the moderators, Sky.

Apparently you didn't read what I posted earlier. Show me where I have any bias whatsoever in what I wrote.

The moderators saw what was brewing on this thread from the beginning.

It could have been locked earlier, but since it involved Strider it was left

alone. If a thread like this involved Sal Glesser of Spyderco (who everybody

admires) it would be stopped at once.

Nevertheless i think the B.F. mods do a good job overall,no one is perfect,

on a forum with 212,000 threads.

Show me one thread on this forum that we locked because Sal Glesser or anybody else was criticized. Sheesh, have you ever read a thread on TGB&U? We don't do that here. No matter how unfounded a complaint may be, if you post a complaint on TGB&U it stays here for everyone to read and to respond to if they choose. Have a look around the forum, see for yourself.

I found it :)... MS never learned how to use the BB software:

Ditto to that, Mongo.

And, Sky, when you have changed the foil hat (I recommend Reynolds heavy-duty/ extra-duty, you can buy it at Costco in bulk) please show us your theory of jealousy in action. Lots of insinuation here, not a lot of actual information. Maybe if you could offer, I dunno, factual information?

As a matter of opinion, the slights as offered to Maxpedition by David Brown in his For Sale thread where I asked for clarification was not shut down, though I was apparently threatened with removal from this forum for asking about the slander without getting any response. i was under the impression the rules of engagement here did not permit this, but if this is the resulting conversation, I can live with this.

As of this weekend, four or six people have decided to remove labels from their backpacks and their Levis. Seriously, Maxpedition has received, as of Saturday evening/ Sunday morning a complete and accurate total of FOUR Fatboy/ product labels having been removed and sent back by the MS Fan Club, I can only assume this to mean the Multiple Sclorosis Fan Club, and they have received a grand total of emails angry over the hubub at other holes in the net. Woohoo! MLK would be proud guys. Next thing, you guys will only be drinking Budweiser sold outside of the city of Chicago so as to not support Jesse Jackson's shakedown of Budweiser in the city.

So.....it's been asked, but isn't it a little disingenuous to use the bag when the bag or bagmaker is such a pollutant in your mind/ little world view that you cannot stand the name but you still use the product? Denial is a river in Egypt, guys.

Public records have all sorts of damning information in them. Federal felonies are not triviality in my book, but that appears to be a matter of personal interpretation.

I support Mick and Duane for service to their country

Are you talking about Mick's "overseas combat experience with special forces"?

Until 2 months ago, if you asked any Strider owner what kind of man Mick Strider is they would probably have told you something like: "I hear he was a ranger involved in overseas missions he's not supposed to talk about"

Now, after that investigation (despicable idea, BTW) we know that during the period in which Mick was "overseas", he was actualy doing time.

This vague, mysterious military career has been printed, posted and talked about for years.
Mick had lots of opportunities to correct this situation, but didn't because it sold knives.

Doesn't that bother you at all, Sky?
If I like a guy's knives, I'll buy one whether he's divorced or changed his name or did a little time (even a lot of time, depending on the crime), but not from a poser.

Parker-I know you from Tactical Forums, you are one of their 18 posters,

who only praise Mad Dog knives on a forum owned by Mad Dog (Kevin

McClung). We all know Kevin and Mick are now bitter enemies since Kevin

sent out e-mails trying to hurt Strider knives, and posted 5 pages of crap

on his site.I can post more, but i tried to be conciliatory in my last post

in hopes this thread would be closed.

You jumped on this thread ,as a Mad Dog loyalist, why not admit it?

My earlier post to Powernoodle about military service was an error

on my part,(sorry powernoodle). But i was still steamed because the

M.D. site questioned Strider's military service, this from posters who

never served.Like Dick Cheney(4 or 5 draft exemptions) questioning

John Kerry about his medals.

Enough.I will buy knives from Strider ,i like their quality,Mick &

Duane's integrity and honor, the people around them like the Simonich

family,Tom Mayo,Jerry Hossom etc.Stop by at the next knife show,

you may like them too.

What a shame. What a disgrace. Squabbling like teenagers in the schoolyard. Don't grown men have anything better to do than go after each others' reputations? Don't their works speak for them, or only their lawyers?

Let he who is without spin, cast the first allegation. Why does standing up for someone you respect mean you have to disrespect someone else?

SO well said sir.
Loandr.

Sky, tell ya what, maybe I would like the guys you mention personally, but I don't think that was the issue was it....

As a matter of opinion, I tend to like knife guys on instinct. So what?

And loyalist? Sure, if my friends or enemies give me fairly concrete information on which to base decisions, I'm loyal to the information. Loyalty and honesty tend to go hand in hand. For the record, I will praise Kevin McClung/ Mad Dog knives in any forum/ personal conversation, as I will any of my friends, when appropriate. I'm sure you will do the same, so please put the paint brush back on the shelf.

IN the interests of this "thing" having some sort of reasonable conclusion, I'll make you an offer here, I'll stand by it and ensure and guarantee it - I'd like to see an end to this little feud as well, but the evidence is in one camp and the rhetoric is in another.

I've seen the evidence, I've read the rhetoric.

Give me incontrovertible evidence that the docs concerning, oh hell, let's call it "The Strider Incident/ Episode," which refute the information as put forward as well as the only logical conclusions that can be deduced from this information and I will not only here in this forum post a public apology to all parties involved, I will guarantee a publicly posted apology from the persons Mr. Strider has named publicly (at the fourm you don't need to "join" in order to read the posts) with exception to Lynn Thompson, as I have never met or spoken with the man.

I didn't jump into this thread, I likely instegated it when I asked for clarification of David Brown's referring to Maxpedition as having "bad owners." If I can mend this thing, which in some minds is trivial and in some minds is pretty gargantuan, then let's do it. The terms are fair.

As concillatory goes, it was a fair attempt, but you did not refute the accusation and you have previously in this very conversation made accusations. Let's settle it here and now, and we can all go back to knives.

Deal?

And around and around we go.

The facts of the case are not largely at issue here. No one is contesting that Mick Strider has been through some hard times. What stirs the pot, continually, is the determination of a cabal of otherwise irrelevant people, to bring his history up on every possible occasion, to rub it in, to pick at the wound, hoiping to make it bleed.

Mick won't bleed. Save yourselves the time and trouble.

Or not, as you like. The trumpets call. Both sides thrill to the martial music.

Maybe it's only because I haven't found time to go chasing all around the net gathering intel to analyse, but there are some aspects of this I'm still not clear about.

If a former criminal can make an honest living making knives, isn't that a good thing? Shouldn't I want to support that?

If a friend of his once said he was out of the country at a time when he was actually in prison, is that something I should be upset about?

What's the issue with the names of Mick's grown children? I gather their names were in some documents that were sent to some knife dealers. Now that knife dealers know their names, should I be afraid one of them will track them down and ... what? Sell them knives? That's what knife dealers do, as a rule....

It's not at all difficult to find out the names and addresses of someone's relatives if you want. My mother does it all the time (her hobby is geneology). Should I be afraid knife dealers will hire a geneologist to track down my relatives and sell them knives?

It's all very perplexing.

Could you maybe humor me, and explain this one?
