"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

So, you've been here long enough to suffer the I-haven't-seen-blue-skies-in-two-whole-days-blues! :p We are so spoiled in central Texas, that when the rain comes, everyone is down in the dumps from sunshine withdrawal. Everyone says, "Oh please, we need the rain to end the summer's drought", but when it comes they can't help feeling down. Don't worry, it'll pass. :)
Bet the farmers and ranchers are happy.

I am not a doctor and will answer no questions or comments, but this is one of the best, easy, and straight forward I've found after having made the deep dive following my second heart attack and open heart surgery. Do your own research . If it saves even one of my brothers or sisters then my heart will soar.

Your post came at an opportune time for me. If I want to live long enough to enjoy all of these pocket knives I need to change my lifestyle BEFORE my first heart attack. Some interesting information here.

Definitely! I enjoy the rain, too. (as long as I don't have to drive in it) mainly for the variety. Wouldn't like it so much if it were raining all the time.
We are having a rainy weekend too, here in the US mid-south, but it looks like it is ushering in a week of much cooler days. Sometimes our autumn weather doesn't start until the end of October. Having it start in early September is a nice change.

I'm totally with you one this!
we skipped spring this year -- went from frost on a Monday in late April to 90 on Wednesday of the same week.
June & July were hot and dry -- then August stated with our traditional September rains and made up for lost time.
we closed Aug out and Started Sept with 2 weeks of rain.
The sun finally came out yesterday and the forecast high for this week is 85 - it was 55 at 6AM today!
I'm loving it!

I experienced the exact opposite when we lived in Arizona. Rainy days were my favorite days, because I was so tired of it being sunny all the time. :D

Mom and Dad always drank tea without milk or sugar. Great Aunt Edie in Surrey said, "Are you sure? It looks like warm Coca Cola!"

Jer almost every time I eat out I drink unsweetened iced tea with out any kind of artificial sweetener I just like it.

My Uncle Ed who passed away several years ago ate a concoction that I didn't understand which was a big bowl of mashed potatoes with a big glob of mayonnaise stirred up in it.:eek:

Takes all kinds, eh?
I'm with you on the iced tea.

We make mash potatoes baked with cream cheese in them. mmmMMMmmm, it's good eatings!

That sounds really good.
My favorite way to eat potatoes is twice baked. I bake them scrape the meat from the skins mix in butter, sour cream, sharp cheddar, chives and crumbled bacon. I then return the mixture to the skins put a little more cheese on top and bake them for another 30 mins. Served up with a salad makes a really good meal. Oh yea I have to have a big glass of unsweetened iced tea with it. This may be why I weigh 255lbs.:D

There are all kinds of ways to cook potatoes good. For mashed potatoes, I keep it simple: butter, milk (also cream sometimes for my wife), salt, and pepper. Sometimes add roasted garlic.
My son recently made ten pounds of potatoes with one pound of butter, one pound of cream cheese, one pound of cheddar cheese, and one pound of gruyere cheese. Not sure if there was anything else. It sure was a hit!
