That sounds really good.
My favorite way to eat potatoes is twice baked. I bake them scrape the meat from the skins mix in butter, sour cream, sharp cheddar, chives and crumbled bacon. I then return the mixture to the skins put a little more cheese on top and bake them for another 30 mins. Served up with a salad makes a really good meal. Oh yea I have to have a big glass of unsweetened iced tea with it. This may be why I weigh 255lbs.:D

Twice baked potatoes are excellent, though normally I just skip the skins the second time and put the potato/butter/sour cream/bacon mixture into a casserole dish, top it with a little extra cheese and bacon and bake it the second time that way.

My favorite way to eat potatoes, though, are the scalloped potatoes (not au gratin, which is what most people seem to think when I say “scalloped potatoes”) that my mom makes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’ve learned to do ‘em myself for holidays when we aren’t all together; mine are almost (but not quite) as good as my mom’s. :D

Your post came at an opportune time for me. If I want to live long enough to enjoy all of these pocket knives I need to change my lifestyle BEFORE my first heart attack. Some interesting information here.
Fantastic ! I listened to Mark Sisson and am following his pragmatic approach. Go to Youtube and listen. I listen to Robb Wolf, Peter Attia, Ben Greenfield and many more. Biohacking for life :D:thumbsup: Work into it slowly and listen to them all and make up your own mind. Mark's story is enlightening. He's done a thousand interviews but was on fire here:

I know where you're coming from John my little heart problem I had a few weeks ago has changed my lifestyle. Doctors ran tons of test and I did okay on them. They put me on a diet that so far has been very easy to follow. 1600 calories maximum 1200 minimum with no more than 20% of calories from fat, no more than 30% from carbs and at least 50% from protein. Also 20 minutes of some type cardio exercise and there is a gym in my apartment complex that has a pro bicycle type machine that also works your arms and you can adjust both incline and resistance. I don't smoke so that wasn't an issue.

Barrett I could post all night on the tasty virtue of the mighty potato so many variations from potato soup with cornbread to crispy fries (chips) to garlic and herb roasted fingerling potatoes and on and on and on.............

There will always be somethings that Mom can do that will never be equaled let alone bested no matter how hard you try John. :):)

That was an incredible comeback. The game started, then I had to make dinner. I was checking in, and then Rogers went down and I thought "well there goes the Packers season." Then we have dinner, but I have the TV on in the other room. Then I see that the Packers have some points! Somehow Rogers is back in the game! But I have to give the kids a bath! So I'm trying to listen to what is going on as I clean the kids. As soon as I was done I took the baby into the TV room and watched Rogers lead the Packers back on an incredible comeback WITH ONE LEG! It was awesome. And I thought the game was over in the first half.

My mother was an absolutely terrible cook, if there was a Bad Cookery Olympics she'd have been a contender for Gold! :D She never really got any better either

What do Americans mean by biscuit? I know it's not cookie but are they some kind of roll or dumpling???

The other word I'm puzzled by is 'trailer' In AmEng it seems to be like a mobile home or caravan in BritishEng. Whereas trailer in Britain seems to mean a thing you tow behind a car to carry goods or materials in, sometimes open, sometimes with a cover. Do American use the word trailer in that sense too?

Aha! Now I understand, the whole concept of biscuits (using the European sense, biscuit, biscotti etc) with GRAVY filled me with horror :D:D

They look good, like scone or crumpets in some way:thumbsup:

Thanks, Will

We use the word "trailer" as a shortened version of the word for both types: a travel trailer is a mobile camper and a utility trailer is used to carry stuff.

Utility trailer

travel trailer

JohnDF JohnDF , excellent portrayal of biscuits (I'm hungry now).
Will Power Will Power , as I understand it, a British caravan is what Americans call a mobile home. It has its own engine. An American trailer can be for hauling furniture in a move, or firewood from the woodlot, or garbage to the dump, and can be open or closed. Some of them are mobile homes that have to be dragged by a car or truck because they don't have their own engine.
