"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

The seller accepted my offer so I believe I got the Mnandi at a price where I can resale it if I need to and not loose much if any money. Most likely will list the Wallstreet I just bought but that Cattaraugus is not going anywhere. I'm still absolutely blown away by the quality of that knife as @traumkommode stated in his sales add on par with customs.

I remember my knife-buying days too well, Randy. I had a hard time passing up a "bargain." I seem to be immune to the urge now, though I do find myself occasionally looking around anyway. Funny that there was a time when I'd rather have yet another new knife than keep my $100 (or $40 or whatever), but now I'd rather have the $100 than any knife.

You'll have no trouble reselling that Mnandi or any GEC if you want to - you may be out a few bucks for the rental fee is all, and of course USPS gets their cut coming and going.

Gents, I know this is the Porch, but it's still the Traditional Forum as well. Please discuss purchases of non-traditional knives elsewhere.

Does anyone know what Ron @Half/Stop is up to lately? I don't think he's posted for more than two weeks! I hope he's on a world tour or something exciting like that.

You're right GT, I sure hope he and Pam are OK

You guys are right I haven't saw anything of Ron either I sure hope all is well. Looks like the last time he posted was on November 16.
When one of our members that participates regularly doesn't show up for awhile they sure are missed.

Glad to hear Ron is OK, great contributor:thumbsup: But let's be realistic, not all of use want spend all of our lives-imagined and virtual- on here all the time ;)

I know that I have been (happily) busier lately. It has certainly made substantially participating here more challenging lately. There are plenty of reasons for folks to drop off a little. But it is still always good to know that folks are doing fine.

Happy Hanukkah! Do you have any favorite traditional foods that you may or may not have Texified and/or BBQified? :)
Thank you. I'm trying to think of anything...The traditional Hanukkah food is latkes (potato pancakes) which does pair well with smoked brisket.
Your question brings to mind a Jewish style deli in Austin I went to a few times. Business wasn't doing so well, so they tried expanding their menu to Mexican/Jewish/Asian fusion. Pastrami eggrolls, latkes topped with jalapeno queso, shrimp and miso matzoh ball soup. So hilarious and wrong, but at the same time, really good. :D Sadly, they closed down pretty quickly after that.

This thread has gotten a bit too off-topic lately if you ask me. Shopping carts, progressive lenses, GT's shirt... Let's get back to what this it's supposed to be all about: chili! :D
