Known as the 1914 Christmas Truce, they really went on for weeks. Sadly, officers put an end to it.My wife and I watched the movie "Joyeux Noel" last night, a movie set in World War I where the troops in the trenches opted for peace over Christmas instead of war. It is based on a true story, although I do not know all of the history involved or its accuracy in the film, but if you just watch the movie for the meaning of the story, it is very inspiring![]()
Yes this really happened, it was initiated by German soldiers. The movie take place near Lille, there's now a commemorative plaque in Frelinghien. It happened also on the Russian front. My wife and I watched the movie "Joyeux Noel" last night, a movie set in World War I where the troops in the trenches opted for peace during Christmas instead of war. Merry Christmas from The People's Republic of Kalifornia.
From a soggy California, that is. Much of our state is being blessed with precipitation of one form or another today. We desperately need it.
That's a nice area, Carl. My best to you and your lady.Karen and I are spending the holiday with daughter and family in Mission Viejo California. Last night was rainy as was this morning. The sun came out a little while ago.
I suddenly realized that I never updated "Carl's Lounge" on how things turned out with my missing Joker stag lockback. Here are a couple of pics of the knife that eventually arrived to replace whatever the little gizmo was that showed up in the knife box.I seem to have developed a tradition of ordering some knives on Black Friday that serve as Christmas/birthday gifts for me.I did it again this year, and one of the knives I ordered was a Joker stag lockback. The box arrived, but it did NOT contain a knife. It DID contain the object pictured below; anyone know what it is?? Thanks!

That turned out for the good. Beautiful stag. BTW I think that contraption is a serial bus or adapter for an old computer.I suddenly realized that I never updated "Carl's Lounge" on how things turned out with my missing Joker stag lockback.
