That's the version of the coin exchange I'd heard of. Here we seem to do it backwards, sending a coin with the knife.

Really cool stuff Kevin!I got lost in a Finnish heritage website last night and was able to track my Father's side of the family all the way back to my 7th Great Grandfather born in 1647. I never knew what part of Finland my family was from and it turns out to be Kauhava which is famous for none other than... knife makingAnd Kauhava is specifically associated with Iisakki Jarvenpaa whom most everyone that is familiar with the Finnish Pukkos will recognize that name. I was on Cloud 9 when I went to bed last night to know that my family came from this area and when I got on there this morning I actually found the spot that represents ME on the family tree... very cool stuff
Grandpa Poika I salute you sir. May your quiver forever be full.Great Great Grandfather had two wives that he married on the same day

That is super cool what a neat necklace and story.I'm not sure where to post this as it's a thank you more than a photo. I just received my end of a trade with Charliewaynorth . We both ended up trading items that we said we'd never let go. He was gracious enough to send me this magnificent trade bead and bone tube necklace that has significant historical and personal importance. I'll let his words describe it:
"The string of beads contains Cobalt Blue and White Heart beads, probably Venetian, salvaged from 1800s North American trading, along with bone tubes created in more recent times."
Of course that wasn't enough for him so he also included a 1 oz. Copper round honoring the Walking Liberty half dollar and a Canadian Two Dollar coin. It is currently the highest value Canadian coin and commonly known as the Toonie.
Thank you my friend.View attachment 1096845
When I was a kid growing up in the 60s, we had some scissors like that in my mother's sewing kit, and they looked to have been pretty old even then. Really cool design.Anyway, they are producing again these days and I had an opportunity to order one of the three designs they offer.

I love my wife with all my heart, and marrying her was probably the best thing I've ever done, but I'll be hanged if I'd want TWO of them.Of course as with any voyage into your heritage you always find some odd things... for example according to this website, my Great Great Grandfather had two wives that he married on the same dayApparently that was legal in Finland in 1908? LoL

Now that is very COOL Kevin . My Dad always told me that he never knew where our ancestors came from and did not care to find out . When I showed him that they came from Scotland , he was extremely happy to know that . The knife is also pretty darn cool .I got lost in a Finnish heritage website last night and was able to track my Father's side of the family all the way back to my 7th Great Grandfather born in 1647. If France is reputed for having more than one cheese per day, Portugal has the same with cod! The cook told us she peeled 15kg potatoes and it took a long time to to make "lanyards" halfway between fries and boiled....
- I found a likely recipe for bacalhau, JP!! I'll let you know how it turns out!!
We had an Italian version as kids, bacala, but I didn't like it that much.
