"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I read he was a favourite of Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, so maybe I should listen to him.

I think you'd enjoy his music and lyrics Vince, here's a quote from Johnny Cash

"Johnny Cash, in his autobiography Cash, wrote, "I don't listen to music much at the farm, unless I'm going into songwriting mode and looking for inspiration. Then I'll put on something by the writers I've admired and used for years — Rodney Crowell, John Prine, Guy Clark, and the late Steve Goodman are my Big Four:thumbsup:

Looking out my window this morning. I'm not sure whether it's welcome or not. I do feel better about having to stay inside when the weather is lousy.

That's rough. We're allowed out for our mental and physical health, as long as we don't congregate.
I didn't get to the range today because my dye and fixative arrived. I dyed my pansy-pastel-blue jumpsuit darker because I'm going to wear it for yardwork. Just because we have covid doesn't mean the Lyme's will leave us alone. I need to get some permethrine too.

Also it took me longer than I expected to install the sling on my new-to-me deer rifle. H&R .44 magnum single shot. They had .450 bushmasters and .350? legends cheaper, but if I'm going to get a pistol caliber deer rifle, I want it to be a proper pistol caliber. Also, H&R doesn't make these any more, and Ilion NY is hard by the Village of Remsen City and Alder Creek, therefore near to my heart. My cousin plays organ at a church in Ilion.
So anyway, I bought a scope and installed it myself. The day before yesterday I couldn't hit the 18"x24" paper from 25 yards. I took it in to be bore-sighted, and first they had to flip the scope because I had it on backwards. The cross-hairs are much bigger and brighter viewed from the proper end. I don't have a picture of the rifle yet, but it's a very elegant and gentlemanly gun. Almost philosophical.
But, since this is the off-topic thread, here's a pic of my security 9 that didn't get into the trads and guns thread because I forgot the knife.
I felt like Goldilocks when I picked this up.

Meanwhile, after between 4 and 6 inches of rain this week in San Diego (depending on exactly which part), the crick below the house which you can normally step across has expanded to take up most of the bottom area.

That's awesome. More water is always welcome in California.

You might want to tell your neighbor that it isn't smart to advertise that he has all the rice, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and PPE. Hahaha...

Today was my daughter's 17th birthday. She requested Caneton à l'Orange, from Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. So my wife gave it a shot:

The ducks were small, so she made two. Served with a side of potatoes and zucchini:

Turned out well, I think. (With French wine--and there's my French knife!) And gateau (cake) of course:

Bon appétit!

BON ANNIVERSAIRE, Happy Birthday! Fiesta in process! A memorable meal with a true pièce montée for dessert!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The best thing is that when she's 18 she will also be free of containment! ;):) (Fingers crossed)

My son was 44 yesterday, he is 800km away so celebration is postponed (same fate for our m/cycle trip scheduled in may :(). PO works only 3 days a week and he did not receive his gift yet (a book, he loves to read).

Happy Easter everybody. No egg chase this year... they be bigger next year! Take care!
