My son was 44 yesterday, he is 800km away so celebration is postponed (same fate for our m/cycle trip scheduled in may :(). PO works only 3 days a week and he did not receive his gift yet (a book, he loves to read).
...
Today was my daughter's 17th birthday. She requested Caneton à l'Orange, from Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. ...
Birthday greetings to your offspring, Jolipapa and Vince!:cool::cool::thumbsup:
Vince, IIRC your daughter is a knife fan. Did she get a 17th birthday gift that will do some cutting? ;)

Wishing everyone a blessed Easter!

Wow - those were the days huh? ;) I'm thinking girls these days are very happy for televised sports as a distraction. The 2nd segment Jolipapa Jolipapa was especially beautifully done.

Some guys couldn't resist full buckets  but then they became more discreet over the years with a little sprinkle and even a seltzer bottle. The super soaker not long in showing up for these festivities, if it hasn't already.

All the best to your daughter on her birthday.
Incidentally, I have the same dinner plate set !

BON ANNIVERSAIRE, Happy Birthday! Fiesta in process! A memorable meal with a true pièce montée for dessert!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The best thing is that when she's 18 she will also be free of containment! ;):) (Fingers crossed)

Happy Easter everybody. No egg chase this year... they be bigger next year! Take care!

Many Happy Returns to your daughter Vince Prester John Prester John (what a feast!), and to your son Alain Jolipapa Jolipapa :)

That's awesome. Congratulations.

Thanks, fellas, and a Happy Birthday to your son, Alain!
And no, Gary, no knife this time. She requested other things. But she has a nice and growing collection, and always carries 1 to 3 knives at a time. :)

He is risen!

Thanks for the gift knife info, Vince. :)

The bluebirds are back! Lousy picture, but after a two year hiatus bluebirds have taken up residence in their house again. We’ve missed them.

Nice!
No picture, but I was standing on my back porch this morning at dawn watching the torrential downpour when a soggy cardinal flew in and landed about 18 inches from my foot. I was a little surprised and said “hello”, which startled him and he flew away.

Funny! That reminds me of the time we had a small feeder hanging just outside our kitchen window and some doves had gotten in the habit of feeding at it. One morning after I had taken the feeder down to clean it, a dove came sailing around the corner of the house just like always, flared out, and made a perfect landing - right where the feeder had been. He dropped like a rock for two or three feet before he recovered with a great flapping of wings and flew off, no doubt wondering what had just happened. Really wished I’d had a video camera!

Funny story! :D:D
I'm glad your bluebirds finally returned!:)

Did he look around to see if anyone noticed? I think that is universal across the animal kingdom...

:D:D:eek:

But it looks like most dogs would have to think twice if they met this bonny bunny ;)

I live on the edge of a wild area. We get a fair number of rabbits that sneak in from the canyon under the fence despite my best efforts to keep them out with fencing improvements. Both our dog and our cat catch them (and eat them if my wife and I don't see them in time). The fencing is good enough to keep the skunks out though, so not a total loss. That miniature kangaroo might intimidate the cat, but not the dog.
